โก๐Tesla's Cybertruck Set to Join The Boring Company's Vegas Loop
The Boring Company's Vegas Loop, a novel transportation system, is gearing up to integrate Tesla's Cybertruck, adding an exciting dimension for visitors. Recently, images of a Cybertruck in the Las Vegas Convention Center Loop sparked curiosity among observers. Steve Hill, President and CEO of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, confirmed the upcoming inclusion of Cybertrucks for convention attendees.
Highlights:
Innovative Transportation: The Cybertruck, known for its robust capabilities, will soon transport passengers through the Vegas Loop. This move adds a practical yet entertaining element to the tunnel system.
Cybertruck's Capabilities: With its ability to tow up to 11,000 pounds and a 6-foot truck bed capable of carrying 2,500 pounds, the Cybertruck is not just for show. It also offers 67 cubic feet of lockable storage, making it highly functional for various transportation needs.
Approval Process: The integration of the Cybertruck into the Vegas Loop is pending approval as a new vehicle by the county. Hill anticipates this process will be smooth, given the vehicle's approval for road use.
Vegas Loop Expansion: Currently connecting three expo halls and Resorts World, the Vegas Loop has ambitious expansion plans. It aims to extend through the resort corridor and downtown Las Vegas, encompassing 68 miles of tunnels and 93 stations.
Steve Hill highlights the dual benefit of the Cybertruck, emphasizing both its utility and the enhanced experience it will offer passengers in the Vegas Loop. The exact date for its introduction remains unconfirmed, but expectations are set for the near term.
๐ข๐ Businesses Demand Removal of F1 Bridge, Cite $23M Losses
Temporary Bridge at Flamingo and Koval intersection
In a recent development, Lisa Mayo-DeRiso, a Southern Nevada business development executive, has called on the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) board to dismantle a temporary bridge on Flamingo Road. The bridge was constructed for the Formula One Las Vegas Grand Prix, an event that has greatly impacted local businesses, with Mayo-DeRiso estimating a staggering $23 million in losses.
During a public comment session, Mayo-DeRiso, representing nine businesses, brought to the attention of the LVCVA board the dire consequences of the event on the operations of local establishments. Among the affected businesses are well-known names like Ferraro's Ristorante and Battistaโs Hole-in-the-Wall restaurant, which saw their operations severely disrupted due to road closures and blocked access.
Although County Commissioner Jim Gibson, who chairs the LVCVA board, could not respond during the session, Mayo-DeRiso's message was clear: the needs of local businesses must be prioritized, and the possibility of compensation for their losses should be considered.
Despite the Formula One race being a financial success and boosting the Las Vegas economy, Mayo-DeRiso stressed the importance of striking a balance between large events and the welfare of local enterprises. She intends to discuss with county officials the removal of the temporary bridge on Flamingo Road and the establishment of a compensation fund for affected businesses.
In light of these concerns, it remains to be seen how the LVCVA board will respond to Mayo-DeRiso's plea and whether the interests of local businesses will be taken into account when planning future events.
๐ป๐จโ๐ป Innovative Wonders at CES Las Vegas: Dronesoccer and Beyond
Supernal eVTOL concept, S-A2
The CES trade show in Las Vegas opened its doors to over 4,000 exhibitors, showcasing the latest in technology across various sectors. The event, spread across the Strip, is expected to attract over 130,000 visitors, including many from abroad. With a wide range of innovative products and concepts on display, the show promises to be a fascinating glimpse into the future of technology. Among the highlights are Dronesoccer, Robotic Massage, Flying Cars, a Portable Record Player, a Walking Assistance Device, and a Zero-Emissions Semitruck.
Drone Soccer is a thrilling new game introduced by the Federation of International Dronesoccer Association. In this unique sport, drones encased in wiring act as balls, and are piloted by players aiming to score in hoop-like goals. This high-tech twist on traditional soccer brings together the excitement of drone racing and the competitive spirit of team sports.
In the realm of health and wellness, iYU Spa's full-body massagers offer a futuristic approach to relaxation. Developed by French startup Capsix Robotics, these AI-driven devices use a robotic arm for hands-free massages, providing an affordable and accessible way for people to enjoy the benefits of massage therapy.
Flying cars are no longer just a sci-fi dream, as demonstrated by Xpeng Aeroht's eVTOL flying supercar. This sleek vehicle, equipped with arms and fans for flight, represents the cutting-edge of personal transportation. Xpeng Aeroht also showcased their 'Land Aircraft Carrier,' a van with a modular flying device, set for pre-order by the end of 2024.
For music enthusiasts, Audio-Technica's Sound Burger offers a unique blend of retro and modern. This portable vinyl record player allows users to enjoy their favorite records on the go, with its compact design and Bluetooth compatibility.
Wirobotics, a South Korean company, unveiled WIM, a battery-powered exoskeleton device designed to enhance walking and exercise capabilities. This innovative device can help improve mobility and fitness, and is set to launch in the Korean market.
Lastly, the zero-emissions semitruck by Kenworth represents a significant step towards a more sustainable future. The hydrogen-powered TC680 FCEV offers an eco-friendly alternative to traditional trucks, with plans to hit the roads by 2025.
These highlights from the CES trade show in Las Vegas demonstrate the incredible potential of technology to transform our lives in exciting and unexpected ways.

โน๏ธโโ๏ธ Las Vegas Welcomes Ninja Lair, a Fitness Studio Inspired by 'American Ninja Warrior
Fans of NBC's "American Ninja Warrior" can now experience the thrill of the show's obstacles at a new gym opened by a former contestant. Ninja Lair Las Vegas, the brainchild of two-time finalist Michael Pericoloso, officially opened its doors in the southwest of Summerlin's boundaries, close to the 215 Beltway in Clark County.
Pericoloso, who appeared on multiple seasons of the show, has created a 4,400-square-foot fitness studio featuring a variety of obstacles that will challenge both the body and the mind. Some of the obstacles include a 14-foot warped wall, salmon ladder, rock wall, and wingnuts.
The motivation behind opening Ninja Lair Las Vegas stems from Pericoloso's experience on the show. "I'm excited to share my passion for this sport with the masses while contributing to the Las Vegas community," he said in an email response to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. "I want to show people that this sport is not just about getting fit, it's about sharpening the mind and building focus. So far, the community's been amazing, showing huge interest. We've already thrown some epic birthday parties and cool kids camps."
The gym caters to all ages, offering toddler classes and a full-body workout that includes running, jumping, climbing, and swinging. The popularity of "American Ninja Warrior" is evident, as the show has been running for 15 seasons, and its finals have been held in Las Vegas for two separate periods.
Ninja Lair Las Vegas presents an opportunity for fans and fitness enthusiasts alike to test their skills and experience the excitement of "American Ninja Warrior" firsthand. With a dedicated and experienced team, the gym promises a unique and challenging experience that caters to people of all ages and fitness levels.
๐ Golden Knights' Goalie Shuffle Ahead of Colorado Matchup
The Vegas Golden Knights are set to reinstate goaltender Adin Hill from injured reserve for their upcoming game against the Colorado Avalanche, as confirmed by coach Bruce Cassidy. However, this update comes with the sidelining of another key player, goalie Logan Thompson, due to illness.
Key Points:
Hill's Return: Adin Hill, who has been on the injured list since a game against Ottawa on December 17, is expected to be back in action. He's been practicing all week and is likely to be cleared for the game.
Thompson's Absence: Logan Thompson missed Wednesday's practice due to illness and is not expected to travel with the team to Denver, thereby missing the upcoming game.
Defensive Adjustments: The team might also see the return of defenseman Zach Whitecloud, recovering from an upper-body injury. His presence would strengthen the team's defense, which is still without Shea Theodore due to a long-term injury.
Cassidy's Decisions: With these changes, Cassidy faces decisions regarding the lineup. This includes choosing between rookie Lukas Cormier and Tobias Bjornfot for the final defensive position. Cormier, who debuted recently, seems to have an edge due to his performance and style of play.
The Golden Knights, with a record of 23-12-5, are navigating through these adjustments as they prepare to face the Avalanche, hoping to maintain their momentum despite the roster changes.

๐ โ Las Vegas Home Market Cools Down, Records Lowest Sales in 9 Years
In a surprising turn of events, the Las Vegas housing market experienced a significant slowdown in 2023, with the year being the slowest for home sales since at least 2014. The total sales of existing homes, condos, and townhomes plummeted to a mere 29,069, a far cry from the 35,096 sales recorded in 2014 and a substantial drop from the 35,584 sales in 2022 and the record-breaking 50,010 sales in 2021.
Merri Perry, the newly appointed president of Las Vegas Realtors, attributes this decline to a tight housing supply, which, while slowing sales, has helped maintain stable home prices. The influence of mortgage interest rates cannot be ignored, as they played a significant role in the market's performance. However, there is a silver lining, as Perry noted that interest rates have begun to decrease towards the end of 2023, making homes more affordable for potential buyers.
Despite the overall slowdown, the average price for a single-family home in December 2023 was $449,900, a 5.9% increase from December 2022. This surprising price hike in the face of a sluggish market could be attributed to the limited supply of homes, which has kept prices relatively stable.
Experts predict that 2024 may bring a gradual increase in housing supply, potentially boosting sales and providing much-needed relief to buyers navigating the challenging Las Vegas market. As we look to the future, it's essential to keep an eye on interest rates and housing inventory to understand the evolving landscape of the Las Vegas real estate market.
