⚾🏟 Las Vegas Ballpark Opens Doors for Seasonal Hiring: Attend the Job Fair!

Las Vegas Ballpark is hosting a job fair for multiple seasonal positions as it gears up for the upcoming season. The job fair will take place on Sat, Feb 3, 2024 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in The Club at the Ballpark. The fair offers a range of job opportunities in various departments:

  • Game Day Crew: Seeking enthusiastic individuals for diverse roles including guest assistance, ticket checking, and game entertainment.

  • Retail Sales Associates (seasonal): Needed for the Team Store.

  • BrightView (Grounds Crew): Part-time field operations roles for games and events.

  • 50/50 Raffle Sellers: Seasonal positions.

  • Food and Beverage Operations by PSC Levy:

  • (Ages 18+) for the following positions: Concession Cooks (PM Shifts), Dishwashers/Stewarding, Dessert Cart Attendants, and Stand Lead;

  • (Ages 21+) for the following positions: In-Seat Servers, Catering Attendants, Runners, Concession Cashiers, Bartenders, Supervisors, Bar Backs, Cocktail Servers, Food Runners, and Pantry Coordinators.

Job seekers should bring their resumes for on-site interviews with hiring managers. For food and beverage roles, proof of SNHD Health and Tam cards is required before the first workday. 🌮 Roberto’s Taco Shop’s Anniversary Bash: 60 Days of Surprises and Specials

Roberto’s Taco Shop, a beloved fixture for UNLV students and Las Vegas residents, is marking its 60th anniversary with 60 days of exciting giveaways that started in December and continue through February. The celebration includes:

  • Giveaways: iPads, Apple Watches, and swag bags filled with branded merchandise are up for grabs during remote radio broadcasts at various stores across the valley.

  • Specials: Food and drink deals from Monday to Thursday, featuring $6.60 carne asada fries on Mondays and $1.59 chicken tacos on Wednesdays.

Founded in 1964 in California by Roberto and Dolores Robledo, the taco shop has grown into a Vegas icon. The first local store near UNLV paved the way for expansion, and now Roberto’s boasts over 80 locations across Nevada, California, and Texas, with nearly 60 in Nevada, all franchise-owned.

Reynaldo Robledo, the founders' son and current CEO, emphasizes the brand's impact on the Latino community in Las Vegas. 😋 Las Vegas Welcomes a Range of New Flavors: GoodHood Burgers and More

New Openings and Offerings in Las Vegas:

  1. GoodHood Burgers: Now open in Summerlin Takeout, 110 S. Rainbow Blvd. This brand, originating as a pop-up in Karachi, offers certified halal meat burgers including fiery chicken, lamb, and a cheese-stuffed Holy Chuck Burger. Website: goodhoodburgers.com.

  2. Le Bon Goût Chez Fa: Located at 3920 W. Charleston Blvd., Suite A, this restaurant by Chef-owner Fatima Sy features Senegalese cuisine. Dishes include jollof rice, stir-fried yassa tofu, thiébou guinar (chicken and rice stew), dibbi (grilled lamb chops), and nem spring rolls.

  3. 702 KM Fuzion: This bar and grill at 6658 Boulder Highway, Suite 9, blends Korean, Mexican, and American flavors. Menu highlights include cheesy tots or fries with toppings, beef elote hot dog, birria tacos, a carnitas and birria sandwich with Korean pickles, kimchi fried rice bowl, and a Korean barbecue chicken pizza.   4. Ethel M Chocolates: A new shop has opened at 2025 Festival Plaza Drive, Suite 110, in Downtown Summerlin, adding to its presence in the valley, including a factory and cactus garden in Henderson.

  5. Morton Group's Italian Restaurant: Jenna and Michael Morton are developing their first off-Strip Italian restaurant near Southern Highlands, planned to open in winter 2024-25. Their portfolio includes La Cave, Crush, Greek Sneek, and One Steakhouse.

  6. Mijo Modern Mexican Restaurant: Located in Durango casino, the restaurant now offers brunch from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. The menu features dishes like churro French toast, breakfast burrito, Baja oysters, and bottomless mimosas. Website: mijomexican.com.

  7. The Vault Speakeasy Event: Celebrated mixologists Jonathan Pogash and Pamela Wiznitzer are hosting a special cocktail menu event at The Vault, Bellagio’s lounge, on Feb. 1. Reservations can be made online. 

⚾🏟 Las Vegas Awaits A’s New Stadium: A Blend of Sport and Resort Luxury

John Fisher, owner of the Oakland Athletics, has revealed why the new renderings of the team’s planned Las Vegas stadium have been delayed. The delay is due to the addition of a new resort to the images, as the team collaborates with Gaming and Leisure Properties Inc. and Bally’s Corp. The updated stadium design, part of a fully redeveloped site at the 35-acre Tropicana location, is being coordinated to address critical issues like access and overall impact.

The A’s have selected the Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) as the lead designer for the $1.5 billion, 33,000-seat ballpark. BIG, known for innovative design approaches, was also involved in the Oakland project. Additionally, HNTB, an experienced firm in sports facility design, including Allegiant Stadium and Levi’s Stadium, is the project architect.

Funding for the stadium involves up to $380 million in public money, as per Senate Bill 1, with the rest, exceeding $1 billion, coming from Fisher’s family equity and potentially local investors. Construction is expected to start in 2025, and the stadium is slated to open in 2028. The A’s are finalizing agreements with the Las Vegas Stadium Authority, overseeing the project similar to Allegiant Stadium.

Fisher emphasized the A’s aim to complement existing Las Vegas facilities, not outdo them, aspiring for an iconic design that stands the test of time. With Major League Baseball’s approval and the Oakland Coliseum lease expiring in 2024, the A’s see a promising future in Las Vegas.
