๐ฝ Elevated Bar Bites and Sports Viewing Unite at General Admission in UnCommons
General Admission, a new sports lounge from Los Angeles, has opened its doors in UnCommons, the mixed-use development in southwest Las Vegas, offering a unique blend of sports viewing and gourmet dining. The establishment, which quietly began welcoming guests in January, aims to cater to a variety of patrons, whether they're out for drinks, a casual bite, a date night, family time, or to catch the latest game.
Featuring almost 40 large screens throughout the venue, including a 163-inch behemoth behind the bar and additional screens on the terrace, General Admission ensures every seat has an optimal view. The menu elevates traditional bar food with inventive twists like Japanese-inspired tater tots, in-house daily made mozzarella sticks, and a creative sushi selection, including a standout Godzilla crunch roll. Main dishes include a spicy rigatoni and sausage alla vodka and a 12-ounce Black Angus striploin, culminating in a decadent oozy chocolate molten cake for dessert.
The bar doesn't shy away from variety, offering two dozen drafts with three rotating local brews, over 200 spirits, craft cocktails, and bottle service to embody the Vegas vibe. Happy hour features attractive specials on drafts, house wines, mimosas, well cocktails, and select food items.
Spanning nearly 5,000 square feet with 160 seats in the main dining area, a 16-seat bar adorned with LED basketball sculptures, and a DJ booth with VIP seating, General Admission merges entertainment with dining in a space designed for comfort and style. The terrace adds outdoor seating for over 60 people, equipped with heaters for cooler nights.
Located at 8548 Rozita Lee Ave., Suite 105, General Admission is part of the bustling UnCommons development, which continues to expand its dining and entertainment offerings. The sports lounge operates from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday and extends its hours until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays, with weekend brunch available from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
๐ฐ Tropicana Resort Closure Paves Way for Oakland Athletics Stadium in Las Vegas
The Nevada Gaming Control Board will oversee the closure of the Tropicana Resort on the Las Vegas Strip on April 2, making way for the construction of a baseball stadium intended for the Oakland Athletics' relocation. Ballyโs Corp., the current operator of the Tropicana, is required to submit a confidential closure plan to the board, details of which remain undisclosed. The resort, nearing its 67th anniversary, will undergo demolition in the following months, supported by financing partner GLPI (Gaming and Leisure Properties Inc.), which owns the land beneath the Tropicana.
The demolition and subsequent construction of the Las Vegas Aโs stadium mark a significant transformation of the site, with Ballyโs executives exploring options for adjacent valuable development lands. This development has prompted concerns from MGM Resorts International, located opposite the Tropicana, regarding potential adjustments needed to align with the new stadium's presence.
The impending closure has led to the notification of 744 employees about layoffs under the federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act, with Ballyโs offering some buyouts and reemployment opportunities at other locations. As Ballyโs navigates this transition, they are also involved in other major projects, including Chicagoโs first casino and a bid for a casino license in New York, alongside expanding their internet gambling presence.
The Gaming Control Board mandates a detailed closure plan for such significant operations, involving inventory and oversight processes to ensure a smooth transition during the casino's shutdown period.
๐ UNLV Bounces Back with Impressive Rout of Air Force, 72-43
The UNLV men's basketball team showcased a commanding performance against Air Force, securing a 72-43 win at Clune Arena in Colorado Springs, Colorado. This victory comes as a significant turnaround from their last encounter, where Air Force had previously dominated UNLV by 32 points. UNLV's strategic execution and improved defense were key factors in this game, effectively neutralizing Air Force's 3-point shooting and backdoor cuts that had been pivotal in their previous meeting.
Junior forward Rob Whaley Jr. led the scoring for UNLV with 15 points, followed by freshman guard Brooklyn Hicks with 12 points and fifth-year forward Keylan Boone with 11 points. The team's effort resulted in a balanced scoring attack, contributing to a lead that extended to as many as 30 points in the second half.
UNLV's defense was particularly noteworthy, limiting Air Force to a mere 5 of 28 from beyond the arc, a stark contrast to the 50% shooting efficiency Air Force exhibited in their last matchup. The Rebels also dominated the paint with 40 points and outrebounded Air Force 44-19, showcasing their physical superiority throughout the game.
The win reflects UNLV's adaptability and growth, especially in countering Air Force's game plan that had previously led to their defeat. With this victory, UNLV moves to a 15-10 overall record and an 8-5 record in the Mountain West Conference, signaling their readiness for upcoming challenges, including their next game against No. 22 Colorado State.

While specific details regarding the incident could not be disclosed, Principal Braxton reassured parents and students that Clark County School District's policies and procedures were being strictly followed, and appropriate disciplinary actions were being taken against the students involved.
Principal Braxton urged parents to use this incident as an opportunity to discuss the importance of school safety with their children and reminded them of the significance of reporting any potential safety issues to an adult. For those wishing to report school safety concerns anonymously, the SafeVoice reporting system is available by calling 1-833-216-SAFE (7233), visiting safevoicenv.org, or by using its free phone app. The principal also provided the school's main office number, 702-799-5800, for anyone with further questions or concerns regarding the incident.
