๐ Solar Eclipse to Dazzle Southern Nevada Skies
Southern Nevada residents will have the opportunity to witness a partial solar eclipse on Monday, with approximately 60% of the sun being obscured by the moon. This celestial event will start at 10:12 a.m., reaching its peak at 11:20 a.m., and concluding by 12:30 p.m. While the central and eastern parts of the United States will experience a total solar eclipse, the trajectory of this phenomenon will span from southwest of San Antonio through several states, ending off the Maine coast. Observers in the path of totality can expect the sun to be completely covered for about 4 minutes and 28 seconds. For safe viewing, the use of eclipse glasses meeting the ISO 12312-2 international safety standard is essential to protect eyes from harmful solar radiation. The next total solar eclipse is anticipated on August 12, 2026, and will be visible in parts of the Arctic, Greenland, Iceland, and northern Spain.
๐ Knights Give Up Six Unanswered Goals in Shocking Loss to Coyotes
The Golden Knights experienced a historic meltdown, surrendering six unanswered goals in the third period to lose 7-4 to the Arizona Coyotes at Mullett Arena in Tempe. Holding a 4-1 lead after two periods, the Knights watched as the Coyotes mounted a rapid comeback, scoring three times in just over a minute to tie the game, before taking the lead and securing the victory. This loss ended the Knights' seven-game point streak and marked their first regulation loss since March 19. The collapse is notable for being the most goals the Knights have allowed in a single period in franchise history, especially against one of the Western Conference's lower-ranked teams. The defeat keeps the Knights' lead over the Los Angeles Kings for third place in the Pacific Division to just one point, with both teams having six games left. The loss also represented a missed opportunity to secure a better position in the playoff race, as Edmonton extended its lead over them. Key moments included defenseman Alex Pietrangelo's absence due to illness, Brendan Brisson's impactful assist in his first game as a call-up, and a disallowed goal following a Coyotes challenge that could have shifted the game's momentum back to the Knights.
๐ฐ Washington Man Wins Over $600K Jackpot at Paris Las Vegas
Erik Wick from Colfax, Washington, hit a significant milestone by winning a $608,242 mega jackpot at Paris Las Vegas. His stroke of luck came while playing Three Card Poker on Thursday night, marking a momentous occasion for him and his family. Wick, who was visiting Las Vegas with his family, has plans to use the winnings to cover his son's tuition and pay off a recently purchased boat. This win adds to the string of jackpot successes at Caesars Palace, where another player had previously hit three jackpots in one night totaling $667,750, and continued the winning streak with more jackpot victories, accumulating $1,617,750 in ten days.
