⚖🦹♂️ Custody Dispute Turns Deadly with Shooting at Summerlin Law Firm
In a tragic incident at a law office in Summerlin, Las Vegas, prominent attorney Dennis Prince and his wife, Ashley, were fatally shot during a deposition before the gunman, identified as longtime lawyer Joseph W. Houston II, took his own life. The shocking event has left the legal community and local residents reeling.
Nevada Attorney General Aaron Ford and others in the legal profession have expressed their deep sorrow over the loss of Dennis Prince, highlighting his brilliance as an attorney and his valued friendship. The shooting occurred in the midst of a custody dispute involving Ashley Prince and her ex-husband, Dylan Edward Houston, also a lawyer in Las Vegas. The dispute had previously led to a divorce decree granting joint custody of their two children.
The incident took place inside the Prince Law Group offices, located on the fifth floor of the City National Bank Building at 10801 W. Charleston Blvd. According to Metropolitan Police Department Lt. Jason Johansson, the victims were targeted specifically during a deposition related to child custody, with the shooting unfolding in a matter of minutes. The tragedy marks a significant loss for the community and the legal profession, raising concerns about safety in legal settings.
State Bar of Nevada records indicate Joseph Houston was licensed in Nevada since 1974, Dennis Prince since 1993, and Dylan Houston since 2015. The event prompted a significant law enforcement response, including shelter-in-place protocols for other occupants of the office building. The aftermath has sparked an outpouring of support for the families affected and a call for resources for those emotionally impacted by the violence.
🏒Vancouver Rallies to Solidify Pacific Division Lead with Win Over Vegas
The Vancouver Canucks staged a thrilling comeback to edge out the Vegas Golden Knights 4-3 at Rogers Arena, showcasing resilience and determination. Conor Garland was the hero of the night, netting two crucial goals for Vancouver in a match that saw them recover from behind twice.
J.T. Miller's playmaking was exceptional, contributing three assists, while Quinn Hughes and Brock Boeser each added a goal and an assist, bolstering the Canucks' attack. Goalie Arturs Silovs also played a key role in the victory with 20 saves. This win was particularly significant for the Canucks, who had experienced a slight dip in form, losing four out of their last six games, including a disappointing 6-3 defeat against the same Vegas team last Tuesday. The victory propelled Vancouver five points clear of the Edmonton Oilers in the race for the top spot in the Pacific Division, despite Edmonton having two games in hand.
For the Golden Knights, Jack Eichel was in fine form, scoring two goals and providing an assist, but his efforts were not enough to secure the win. Noah Hanifin also contributed with a goal and an assist, and goalie Logan Thompson made 26 saves. Despite this loss, Vegas remains in contention for the Stanley Cup Playoffs, holding the second wild card from the Western Conference, trailing Los Angeles by just one point for third place in the Pacific Division.
Eichel's early dominance gave the Golden Knights a promising start, but the Canucks' power-play goals from Garland and Hughes shifted the momentum. Although Hanifin temporarily put Vegas back in the lead, Vancouver's relentless pressure and strategic play, highlighted by Boeser's 40th goal of the season and Garland's game-winning goal, sealed the comeback victory.
This match not only highlighted individual brilliance but also underscored the importance of teamwork and perseverance in overcoming adversity. Vancouver's ability to bounce back and secure a win under pressure will be a significant boost as they aim to solidify their position at the top of the Pacific Division heading into the playoffs.

💇♂️🍸Legacy Club's Kenny Hwong Stirs His Way to Top 30 in Prestigious Bartending Competition
Kenny Hwong, a bartender at Legacy Club in downtown Las Vegas, has stirred his way into the top 30 of the prestigious United States Bartenders Guild Presents World Class competition. Held 60 stories high atop Circa, Hwong's mixology skills have been recognized in a contest that draws global talent and is sponsored by the beverage giant Diageo.
Hwong’s journey in the competition involved crafting a signature cocktail using ingredients from the Diageo Bar Academy. His creation, "Inhale," is inspired by a cherished chocolate mint candy from his childhood, combining Ketel One vodka, Pernod's distinct black licorice flavor, Fernet-Branca's bitterness, espresso, honey syrup, and a Maldon salt solution into a refreshingly complex drink.
This achievement marks a significant leap from his previous top 100 finishes in 2022 and 2023, bringing him closer to the cocktail culture's zenith. Hwong's participation in what he describes as the "biggest cocktail competition" is a dream come true for the Vegas native.
The competition’s next phase will see one bartender from Denver selected to represent the U.S. at the World Class global finals in Shanghai. Criteria for advancement include cocktail innovation, balance, presentation, and the creation of a homemade ingredient that elevates a Diageo spirit.
Beyond the competition, Hwong continues to innovate at Legacy Club with creations like "What’s Your Number?"—a 72-hour clarified coconut milk punch with green chiles and adjustable spice levels, garnished with a sustainable nod to coconut cream pastry.
👨🏀 UConn's Strategic Mastery Leads to Consecutive National Championships
The University of Connecticut Huskies have etched their names into college basketball history by repeating as national champions, securing a 75-60 win over Purdue. Under the leadership of Coach Dan Hurley, UConn has become the first team to successfully defend its title since the Florida Gators achieved the feat in 2006 and 2007 under Coach Billy Donovan.
The highly anticipated matchup between the teams' key players did not disappoint. Purdue's Zach Edey delivered a stellar performance with 37 points and 10 rebounds. However, UConn's Donovan Clingan played a crucial role in neutralizing Edey, allowing his teammates to focus on Purdue’s perimeter shooters. This strategic move was pivotal in UConn's victory.
The loss extends the Big Ten conference's championship drought to 24 years, with the last title being won by Michigan State in 2000. Since then, the conference has failed to secure the national title in eight attempts.
ESPN analysts Josh Weinfuss, John Gasaway, and Myron Medcalf provided insights into UConn's victory, highlighting the team's strengths and strategies that led to their win. They also discussed the implications for UConn's future, considering their remarkable achievement of back-to-back national titles.
👩🏀 Iowa vs. South Carolina Breaks Betting Records in Historic NCAA Women’s Final
In a historic NCAA women’s basketball final, Caitlin Clark's efforts to lead Iowa to a national championship fell short as the team succumbed to South Carolina with a score of 87-75. Despite the loss, the game broke records, becoming the most-bet women’s basketball game in NCAA Tournament history and marking a significant moment for women's sports betting.
South Carolina's victory over Iowa not only secured their win but also set a precedent as the most-bet women’s sporting event at BetMGM, with several other sportsbooks like the Westgate SuperBook, Station Casinos, and South Point reporting unprecedented betting volumes. Chris Andrews, South Point sportsbook director, noted that the betting handle for the game surpassed previous records by a substantial margin.
This game followed Iowa's notable victories over Connecticut in the Elite Eight and Louisiana State in the Sweet 16, both of which also set betting records. According to Andrews, the betting activity for the Iowa-South Carolina game was comparable to that of major men's sports events, signaling a growing interest and investment in women’s basketball.
The final saw Caitlin Clark, the NCAA's all-time leading scorer and projected No. 1 WNBA draft pick, showcasing her skill with 30 points, eight rebounds, and five assists. However, despite Iowa's strong start and a narrowed deficit late in the game, South Carolina's undefeated season (38-0) remained intact, concluding the year with a perfect record a year after being upset by the Hawkeyes in the Final Four.
Sportsbooks, which saw most bets placed on Iowa, emerged victorious as South Carolina won and covered the spread. The significant betting interest in this game underscores a remarkable shift towards greater recognition and enthusiasm for women’s basketball.
