🏈 Tough Road Ahead: Raiders Underdogs in All But Two Games This Season

The Las Vegas Raiders are only favored in two games this season based on opening lines posted by DraftKings Sportsbook, which does not operate in Nevada. The Raiders are 4-point favorites against the Carolina Panthers in their Week 3 home opener on September 22 at Allegiant Stadium and 3-point favorites over the Denver Broncos in their Week 12 AFC West matchup on November 24, also at Allegiant Stadium.

In their other 15 games, the Raiders are underdogs, though seven of those games are nearly even, with the Raiders being underdogs by just 1 or 1.5 points.

The Raiders start their season with back-to-back road games against the Los Angeles Chargers and the Baltimore Ravens. Caesars Sportsbook lists the Raiders as 3.5-point underdogs at Los Angeles in Week 1 and 8.5-point underdogs at Baltimore in Week 2.

The Raiders finished last season with an 8-9 record and a 10-6-1 record against the spread. This season, Caesars has set the Raiders’ win total at 6.5, with bettors showing interest in the under following the schedule release.

“Obviously, being in Nevada, we’re taking some Raiders over money. The locals are faithful on the over,” said Caesars head of football Joey Feazel. “But we’ve seen a couple sharp bets on the under for the Raiders. Certainly having back-to-back road games (in Weeks 1 and 2) isn’t going to help.”

VSiN.com senior editor Zach Cohen pointed out that the Raiders’ schedule presents several challenges, including a tough second game against a well-rested Ravens team.

DraftKings Opening Lines for All 17 Raiders Games

  • Week 1: CHARGERS -3 Raiders

  • Week 2: RAVENS -7 Raiders

  • Week 3: RAIDERS -4 Panthers

  • Week 4: Browns -1.5 RAIDERS

  • Week 5: BRONCOS -1 Raiders

  • Week 6: Steelers -1 RAIDERS

  • Week 7: RAMS -4 Raiders

  • Week 8: Chiefs -4.5 RAIDERS

  • Week 9: BENGALS -7 Raiders

  • Week 11: DOLPHINS -6 Raiders

  • Week 12: RAIDERS -3 Broncos

  • Week 13: CHIEFS -7 Raiders

  • Week 14: Buccaneers -1.5 Raiders

  • Week 15: Falcons -1 RAIDERS

  • Week 16: Jaguars -1 RAIDERS

  • Week 17: Saints -2.5 Raiders

  • Week 18: Chargers -1 RAIDERS

🦹‍♂️ Las Vegas Man Held on $100K Bail for Shooting Neighbor During Argument

A Las Vegas judge has set bail at $100,000 for Eddi Moreno, a 32-year-old man accused of shooting and killing his next-door neighbor during a dispute earlier this week. During the hearing on Thursday, Justice of the Peace Amy Chelini ordered Moreno to stay away from his surviving neighbor and to have no firearms in his home.

Defense attorney Peter Christiansen, representing Moreno, stated that he and the prosecutors agreed to the bail amount outside of court. "No guns, period," Chelini emphasized to Moreno, who acknowledged the order.

According to the arrest report, Moreno’s wife reported that their neighbor, Joe Moreno, had exposed himself during an argument that began when the family returned from their daughter’s soccer game. The incident occurred at around 7:07 p.m. on Monday in Summerlin, on the 2200 block of Starline Meadow Place.

Joe Moreno, 47, was shot and killed during the confrontation. Eddi Moreno was arrested on suspicion of open murder. His wife and attorney declined to comment following the hearing.

The report details that Joe Moreno, who was bipolar, accused Eddi Moreno of breaking into his house and began behaving aggressively. Eddi Moreno claimed he warned his neighbor he would shoot if approached and fired when Joe Moreno allegedly rushed towards him. However, police indicated that video footage showed Joe Moreno was not on his neighbor's property and was unarmed at the time of the shooting.

Eddi Moreno is scheduled to appear in court again on August 13 and remains in custody at the Clark County Detention Center.

🎰 Sahara Casino Upgrades Parking Security, Keeps Free Parking Policy

Crews have installed new parking technology at the Sahara hotel-casino's parking garage, sparking speculation about a potential change in parking policies. However, the property has confirmed that the installation is solely for security enhancements and traffic monitoring, not for altering their free parking policy.

Social media users noted the installation activities this week and suggested that a policy change might be imminent. In response, Sahara officials assured the public that they remain committed to offering free parking to their guests. The resort reiterated this stance in a post on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “Rest assured — we remain committed to offering free parking to our guests located conveniently off of Las Vegas Boulevard.”

A spokesperson for Sahara explained that the new technology is designed to improve security measures and manage traffic flow within the garage. Despite the upgrades, Sahara continues to stand out as one of the few Strip properties maintaining a free parking policy. Other casinos on the Strip either offer limited free parking hours or require patrons to join loyalty programs or present a Nevada ID for complimentary parking.

💲 Allegiant Stadium Seeks 1,500 Part-timers for Raiders Games and More

Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas is set to host a significant hiring event next week, aimed at filling 1,500 part-time positions to support its diverse lineup of events, including Las Vegas Raiders games and other major gatherings. The event, scheduled for May 22 and 23, will offer potential employees the chance to interview for roles in various departments such as retail, food service, security, ticketing, guest services, custodial services, and parking.

Neumiia Duncan-Reed, the Vice President of Human Resources and Community Affairs at Allegiant Stadium, emphasized the importance of this recruitment drive, noting that it reflects the stadium's commitment to building a dedicated and enthusiastic team. The hiring drive is particularly crucial as the stadium not only hosts NFL games and UNLV football but also major concerts and private events.

The event is part of an ongoing effort to maintain a robust workforce; in 2023, the stadium achieved a 70% employee retention rate. This high retention rate is attributed to the positive work environment and the sense of community among the staff. Duncan-Reed highlighted the unity and camaraderie that come with being part of the stadium's team as key factors in their retention success.

Applicants are encouraged to bring their resumes and come prepared for onsite interviews, which will take place directly on the field at Allegiant Stadium. This recruitment initiative is a great opportunity for those looking to be involved in the exciting atmosphere of one of Las Vegas's premier venues.
