๐ŸŽ Clark County Explores Licensing Future Events at Formula One's Las Vegas Grand Prix Plaza

Southern Nevadans can look forward to a pleasant Memorial Day weekend, with temperatures staying below the triple digits, as per the National Weather Service's forecast. The weather is expected to be mild and sunny, with only a slight disruption on Friday due to wind gusts.

On Thursday, the central Las Vegas Valley is expected to see a high near 92 degrees, accompanied by light winds and a clear sky. Friday, however, will experience wind gusts up to 30 mph during the day and 26 mph at night, with a high near 90 degrees.

"It's a weak trough going through to our north and will make some wind and knock the temperatures down a few degrees maybe," said weather service meteorologist Clay Morgan, explaining the slight disruption in the otherwise pleasant weather.

Saturday is expected to be mild with a high near 86 degrees, while Sunday and Memorial Day will see highs of 92 and 96 degrees respectively. The normal temperature for this time of year in Las Vegas is 91 degrees.

As we move into June, the forecast predicts a high of 99 degrees on Tuesday. "After Saturday we should be able to see how hot and for how long," Morgan said, hinting at the possibility of normal temperatures for the end of May. "Right now it doesnโ€™t look like anything ridiculously hot; just kind of normal for the end of May."

๐Ÿˆ Raiders' Allegiant Stadium Home Games Top NFL Secondary Market Once Again

Tickets to Raiders home games at Allegiant Stadium are once again the most popular in the NFL on the secondary market. The team was tops in total sales 24 hours after the 2024 NFL schedule was released on May 15, according to online ticket broker StubHub. The other clubs in the top five were the Cowboys, Steelers, Falcons, and Packers.

The average price for tickets sold to Raiders games this year on StubHub is $358. The teamโ€™s top-selling home game, before taxes and fees are included, is against the Steelers on October 13. The average ticket-selling price for the contest is $513, with the cheapest available ticket costing $355.

The Raidersโ€™ next four top-selling games are against the Chiefs on October 27 ($443 average), the Browns on September 29 ($341 average), the Falcons on December 16 ($322 average), and the Panthers on September 22 ($313 average). The Browns, Panthers, and Falcons are visiting Allegiant Stadium for the first time.

Raiders games have become a significant tourism draw for the city, with an average of 35,892 out-of-town fans attending each game last season. This out-of-town attendance is a boost for the local economy, with visitors spending more and staying longer than the average tourist.

โ€œWhat it means is a continued economic shot in the arm for all Las Vegans who benefit from the tourism industry,โ€ said Clark County Commissioner Michael Naft.

The room tax on Clark County hotel rooms generated almost $6.6 million in February, with Super Bowl 58 in town, compared to $4.4 million in February 2023. The room tax was initiated in March 2017 and has since generated $329.7 million, 7 percent higher than the $308.7 million budgeted for the first seven years of revenue collection.

The Raidersโ€™ Allegiant Stadium home games continue to be a hot ticket in the NFL, drawing fans from far and wide and providing a significant boost to the local economy.

โš– U.S. Justice Department Sues Live Nation and Ticketmaster, Alleging Monopoly in Entertainment Industry

The U.S. Justice Department, along with 30 state and district attorneys general, has filed a significant antitrust lawsuit against Ticketmaster and its parent company Live Nation Entertainment, accusing them of monopolistic practices in the live events industry. The lawsuit, filed in Manhattan federal court, alleges that Live Nation engages in unlawful conduct that inflates prices for fans and stifles competition, hurting artists, smaller promoters, and venue operators. The Justice Department highlights practices like long-term contracts that prevent venues from choosing rival ticketing services and retaliation against those who don't comply with Ticketmaster's terms. Live Nation, which dominates the market with exclusive partnerships at major venues, denies these accusations, claiming their market share is due to superior services. This lawsuit is part of the Biden administration's broader effort to tackle corporate monopolies.

๐Ÿก Las Vegas Lags Behind National Trend as Gen Z and Millennials Struggle to Enter Housing Market

A recent report from Redfin reveals that Gen Z and younger millennials accounted for 40 percent of the mortgages taken out in the U.S. last year. However, Las Vegas is an exception, with one of the lowest mortgage buy rates for people under 35 at 32.9 percent. This places Las Vegas as the fifth lowest in the U.S., trailing behind West Palm Beach, Florida, which had the lowest rate at 27.8 percent.

Bryan Cornejo, a Gen Z real estate agent with Realty One Group, suggests several reasons for this trend. He believes high mortgage rates, currently at 7.4 percent, are deterring potential buyers. Cornejo also points out that many Gen Z individuals prefer renting over buying, adopting a wait-and-see approach. He attributes this to a combination of factors, including the high cost of living in Las Vegas, the city's vibrant entertainment scene, and the challenges of long-term planning in such an environment.

Cornejo emphasizes the importance of education in helping younger generations navigate the housing market. He suggests that a shift towards long-term thinking could encourage more Gen Z individuals to consider home ownership as a viable option.

The report also notes that a significant number of Gen Z and millennial buyers receive financial assistance from their parents to fund down payments. This trend is likely to continue as the housing market remains challenging for younger buyers.

Meanwhile, investors are increasingly purchasing homes in Las Vegas, with 69 percent of these transactions being all-cash deals. This trend is less affected by the high mortgage rates currently impacting the residential real estate market. Rental rates in the city are also on the rise, with the median rent currently at $1,505 a month, a 2.4 percent increase from last month and a 1.7 percent year-over-year increase.
