⛽ Las Vegas Gas Prices
⚡️ NV Energy and Southwest Gas to Reduce Rates in July, Bringing Relief to Customers
Both NV Energy and Southwest Gas customers in Southern Nevada can expect lower utility bills starting in July, thanks to reductions in fuel purchase rates. This change comes as the national price of natural gas has declined. However, despite lower rates, total energy bills may still rise due to increased summer electricity demand.
Detailed Summary:
NV Energy:
Single-family residential customers: Average July bill to be around $242, down by $48 (16.5%) from last year.
Multifamily residential customers: Average July bill to be around $127, down by $26 (17%) from last year.
Revenue impact: Expected to reduce the utility's revenue by $454.7 million.
Fuel rate reductions:
Single-family: Down 12.2%, accounting for $20.29 of the total bill reduction.
Multifamily: Down 13%, accounting for $12.92 of the total bill reduction.
Southwest Gas:
Single-family residential customers: Rates to decrease by 26%, lowering the monthly bill by $22.03.
Multifamily residential customers: Rates to decrease by 24.6%, lowering the monthly bill by $12.06.
Revenue impact: Expected to reduce the utility's revenue by $251 million.
Cause of Rate Reduction:
The decrease in utility rates is attributed to the steady decline in the national price of natural gas from the elevated levels in 2022 and 2023.
Customer Assistance:
Customers experiencing high bills can explore NV Energy’s PowerShift programs and services for energy-saving tips.
