🦹‍♂️ Shooter Identified in Attempted Assassination of Former President Trump

Authorities have identified the shooter in the apparent assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump as Thomas Matthew Crooks, a 20-year-old from Bethel Park, Pennsylvania. The incident occurred at a campaign rally near Butler, where one attendee was killed, and two others were critically injured.

Key Points:

  1. Incident Overview

    • The shooting took place from a rooftop outside the rally venue in Butler, Pennsylvania.

    • Trump, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, reported on social media that his right ear was pierced by a bullet.

    • The shooter, identified as Thomas Matthew Crooks, did not carry identification, so the FBI used DNA and other methods to confirm his identity.

  2. Investigation and Motive

    • Investigators are working to gather more information about Crooks' background and motives.

    • An FBI official stated that a motive had not yet been determined.

    • Bomb-making materials were found in Crooks’ vehicle and home, raising further concerns.

  3. Shooter’s Background

    • Crooks graduated from Bethel Park High School in 2022, where he was recognized for his achievements in math and science.

    • His political leanings are unclear. While he was registered as a Republican, records show he donated $15 to a progressive political action committee on the day President Joe Biden was inaugurated.

    • Public records show no past criminal cases against Crooks.

  4. Law Enforcement and Community Response

    • A blockade was set up near Crooks’ house, and police cars were stationed in the area.

    • Officers were seen patrolling the neighborhood, ensuring the safety and security of residents.

    • The Bethel Park School District has pledged full cooperation with the investigation.

  5. Details of the Attack

    • An AR-style rifle was recovered at the scene.

    • Videos and photos from the rally show the shooter was positioned on the roof of AGR International Inc., a manufacturing plant near the rally site.

    • The roof was less than 150 meters from the stage, a distance from which a skilled marksman could reasonably hit a target.

  6. Weapon Acquisition

    • Investigators believe the weapon was purchased by Crooks’ father at least six months ago.

    • Federal agents are investigating how Crooks obtained the gun and his access to the bomb-making materials.

Community and Family Reactions

Relatives of Crooks have not responded to media inquiries. His father, Matthew Crooks, expressed his confusion and concern over the situation, stating he would not speak about his son until after speaking with law enforcement.

Ongoing Investigation

Authorities continue to piece together the timeline and motivations behind the attack. The FBI and local law enforcement are conducting a thorough investigation to ensure all aspects of the incident are understood.

Additional Information

  • Security Measures: In response to the attack, there may be increased security measures at future rallies and public events involving high-profile figures.

  • Public Safety: Authorities assure the public that they are taking all necessary steps to maintain safety and prevent further incidents.

🎨 Robert Rock Belliveau: A Legacy of Art, Medicine, and Community

Robert Rock Belliveau, a prominent physician, philanthropist, artist, and devoted husband to the late renowned artist Rita Deanin Abbey, passed away on July 3 in Las Vegas at the age of 92. Belliveau was well known for his role as an ambassador for the Rita Deanin Abbey Art Museum, a space dedicated to his wife's artistic legacy.

A Life Dedicated to Art and Medicine

Belliveau was not just a passionate advocate for his wife's art; he was an accomplished artist himself. Often found painting at the museum located at 5850 N. Park St. in northwest Las Vegas, Belliveau contributed significantly to the vibrant art scene. The museum, which opened to the public two years ago, showcases some of the finest art pieces created in Las Vegas, including Abbey's renowned works like “Spirit Tower,” a 20-foot steel sculpture, and the “Isaiah Stained-Glass Windows” at Temple Beth Sholom.

Belliveau firmly believed in the significance of his wife's art. When asked if he agreed that the museum represented the most important unknown artist ever in Southern Nevada, he responded, “Absolutely … but we do have a few things that she’s done in the public that are prominent.”

A Dedicated Physician

In addition to his artistic endeavors, Belliveau had a distinguished medical career. He earned his medical degree from Washington University in St. Louis and specialized in pathology. Belliveau served as the Chief Pathologist at University Medical Center of Southern Nevada for over 25 years, where his work benefited countless patients. He published numerous research articles on kidney structures and was awarded the 1990 Nevada State Medical Association Distinguished Physician Award.

Exploring New Horizons in Retirement

After retiring from medicine, Belliveau pursued his passion for botany through micro-photography. He produced thousands of unique plant photographs that were featured in prestigious publications such as Smithsonian and The New York Times. His work was also showcased in a solo exhibition at the Springs Preserve.

A Legacy of Philanthropy and Community Engagement

Belliveau and Abbey, who married in 1985, were committed to supporting the arts and the community. They established the Robert Rock Belliveau and Rita Deanin Abbey Foundation to ensure Abbey’s art would leave a lasting legacy. The foundation continues to support various community programs, reflecting the couple’s dedication to their community.

Remembering Robert Rock Belliveau

Laura Sanders, Executive Director of the Abbey Art Museum, highlighted Belliveau's personal connection to the museum’s exhibits. “Robert enjoyed interacting with museum visitors and felt that the art created a sense of unity among them,” she said. “He was a constant companion, and I will dearly miss him.”

Celebrating Abbey's Birthday

In honor of Rita Deanin Abbey’s birthday, the museum is offering free entry to all visitors on July 20. Additionally, from July 21 to July 31, a buy-one-get-one-free admission package will be available. For more information on the museum’s activities, visit ritadeaninabbeymuseum.org.

Robert Rock Belliveau's legacy is one of remarkable contributions to both the medical and artistic communities. His life’s work continues to inspire and benefit many, ensuring that the impact of both his and his wife’s efforts will be felt for generations to come.
