The Desert Breeze Aquatic Facility, located at 8275 W. Spring Mountain Road, will host its annual “Dog Daze of Summer” event on Saturday, September 7, from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m.
This event is designed to give dogs of all sizes a chance to cool off in the pool. The schedule is organized by dog size to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants. Small dogs, weighing under 30 pounds, will have exclusive access to the pool from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. Medium dogs, those between 30 and 65 pounds, can take a dip from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., and large dogs, weighing over 65 pounds, will have their turn from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Pre-registration is required for this event, and the cost is $7 per dog. Organizers emphasize that registration will not be available on the day of the event, so interested participants must sign up in advance. Each session is limited to 100 dogs to ensure a pleasant experience for everyone. Registration can be completed at the Desert Breeze Aquatic Facility or online at www.ClarkCountyNV.gov/ParksRegistration.
During the event, only dogs will be allowed in the pool, providing them with open swimming opportunities and participation in raffles specifically for canine attendees. The outdoor water park at Desert Breeze will be transformed into a dog-friendly environment, ensuring a day of fun and excitement for the furry participants.
Clark County officials require that all dog owners provide proof of their pet’s vaccinations before being admitted to the event. To streamline the entry process, owners can submit proof of vaccination and liability waivers via email to [email protected] prior to the event. This will help expedite entry on the day of the event.
The "Dog Daze of Summer" event is a great opportunity for dogs to enjoy a day of swimming and socializing, while owners can connect with other pet enthusiasts in the community.

🏀 Five Aces Players Sign $100K Sponsorship Deals with LVCVA Amid Investigation
Five players from the Las Vegas Aces have signed sponsorship agreements with the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA), according to contracts obtained by the Las Vegas Review-Journal on Tuesday. The contracts, which outline a payment structure of $100,000 per year for two years, are part of an effort to promote Las Vegas as a tourism destination.
Details of the Sponsorship Agreement
The sponsorship deal involves paying each player $100,000 annually, distributed in equal monthly installments during the WNBA season. Initially, this commitment would have amounted to a total of $2.4 million. However, due to roster changes, the Aces currently have 11 players.
LVCVA President and CEO Steve Hill clarified that the players must fulfill certain marketing appearances and obligations to receive the funds, a requirement that evolved from the initial simpler expectation of the players merely representing Las Vegas.
Investigation and Compliance
The WNBA confirmed an investigation into the Aces, presumably over concerns of salary cap circumvention. The league hired outside legal counsel to conduct the investigation and has not commented on its progress.
Despite the ongoing probe, Hill expressed excitement about moving forward with the sponsorships. "It takes a while, once you come out of the concept, to get through all the contracts, particularly when there’s a dozen players involved and a number of different agents," Hill said on Tuesday. "But we’re getting to that point that we can really kick this off, and that’s gonna be a lot of fun."
Promotional Requirements and Perks
The contracts mandate that Aces players participate in at least three events annually, including a public ceremonial signing event. The agreements became effective on May 17, the day the LVCVA’s social media video announcing the sponsorship offers was recorded and published, a video that has garnered over 2 million views.
The LVCVA, which promotes Las Vegas as a tourism destination funded by proceeds from the Las Vegas Convention Center and hotel room taxes, has treated these deals similarly to its agreements with influencers. Players have been presented with marketing opportunities, such as attending Raiders games or the Formula One race in November.
Contract Termination and Compliance Clauses
The contracts include clauses allowing immediate termination without notice if a player leaves the roster or violates team or league rules. This clause came into play when the Aces waived rookie guard Dyaisha Fair and Emma Cannon earlier this season.
The agreements also contain a collective bargaining agreement conflict clause, stating that any details found to conflict with the league’s CBA or a player's contract would be void. Hill described this as a standard severability clause, ensuring the deals' viability in case of any objections from the WNBA.
Signed Players and Pending Agreements
Current Aces players who have signed the deals are Kierstan Bell, Alysha Clark, Megan Gustafson, Tiffany Hayes, and Kiah Stokes. Notably, the Aces’ star players—A’ja Wilson, Chelsea Gray, Kelsey Plum, and Jackie Young—have not yet come to terms with the LVCVA, nor have Sydney Colson and rookie Kate Martin. Their agents have not responded to requests for comment.
Hill remains unconcerned about the pending signatures, noting that the players are "very busy," particularly those participating in the Paris Olympics. He emphasized that the payments are tied to the WNBA season, as players need to be part of the Aces to make the sponsorships relevant.
Future Outlook
Hill highlighted that the sponsorships aim to provide the players with opportunities to remain in Las Vegas during the offseason and continue promoting the city. "The idea is for these ladies to have the opportunity to stay in Vegas if they want to. And by doing so, continue to be able to rep Vegas while they’re here," he said.
Conclusion
The sponsorship deals between the LVCVA and the Las Vegas Aces players represent a significant investment in promoting Las Vegas through the visibility and popularity of WNBA athletes. As the investigation by the WNBA continues, the focus remains on leveraging these partnerships to enhance Las Vegas’s appeal as a premier destination.
❎ Harris to Visit Nevada for First Time Since Announcing Presidential Bid
Vice President Kamala Harris is set to visit Las Vegas next week, marking her first appearance in Nevada since officially entering the presidential race. This visit is part of a nationwide campaign tour, where Harris and her yet-to-be-announced running mate will engage with voters across the country in the lead-up to the election.
Although Harris has not yet revealed her vice-presidential pick, several prominent figures are reportedly under consideration. These include Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, Arizona Senator Mark Kelly, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz. The selection process remains ongoing, with the final decision expected to generate significant attention and speculation.
This upcoming visit to Las Vegas is particularly noteworthy as it will be Harris's inaugural stop in Nevada since she launched her presidential bid. Despite this, she has made six trips to Nevada this year, underscoring the state's importance in the election. Nevada, with its six electoral votes, is considered a critical battleground state that could play a decisive role in determining the outcome of the presidential election.
Harris's campaign strategy involves extensive travel and direct voter engagement, reflecting the high stakes of the upcoming election. Her efforts in Nevada and other key states aim to build momentum and secure vital electoral support.
