🏈 Raiders Face Denver Broncos Amid Trade Rumors and Key Injuries

The Las Vegas Raiders will attempt to focus on football and put aside a week full of off-field distractions when they travel to face the Denver Broncos on Sunday in an AFC West showdown at Empower Field at Mile High.

The Raiders (2-2) enter the game following a hard-fought 20-16 victory over the Cleveland Browns, but their win celebration was overshadowed by star wide receiver Davante Adams' trade request. After the game, Adams reportedly expressed dissatisfaction with his role on the team and formally requested a trade, creating a significant distraction for the Raiders as they prepare for their divisional matchup.

Adams, widely regarded as one of the top receivers in the league, has been frustrated with his usage and the overall direction of the team. Despite his trade request, the Raiders have not indicated whether they intend to move him before the trade deadline. His status for Sunday remains uncertain, as he is among several Raiders starters who are expected to be sidelined due to injuries.

Injury Concerns for the Raiders

The Raiders could be significantly short-handed as they face a Broncos team riding a two-game winning streak. In addition to Adams' potential absence, the Raiders are dealing with multiple injuries that could impact their starting lineup. Head coach Antonio Pierce will need to adjust both his offensive and defensive strategies to compensate for the loss of key players.

With Adams potentially out, the Raiders’ offensive game plan will rely heavily on their other playmakers, including wide receiver Jakobi Meyers, running back Josh Jacobs, and tight end Michael Mayer. Quarterback Gardner Minshew will need to spread the ball around and look for opportunities to exploit Denver's defense.

Broncos Looking for Third Straight Win

The Broncos (2-2) are coming off a 10-9 victory over the New York Jets, and despite struggles on the offensive side of the ball, they have managed to string together back-to-back wins. Denver's offense, led by quarterback Russell Wilson, has been inconsistent, but the team has leaned on its defense to close out tight games.

The Broncos’ defense has been solid throughout their two-game winning streak, holding opponents to under 10 points in both matchups. They will look to maintain that momentum against a Raiders team dealing with roster uncertainty. Denver's defense, featuring standout linebacker Josey Jewell and safety Justin Simmons, will aim to pressure Minshew and limit the effectiveness of Las Vegas' ground game.

How to Watch: Raiders at Broncos

  • When: Sunday, 1:05 p.m. PST

  • Where: Empower Field at Mile High, Denver, CO

  • TV: Fox (Kevin Kugler on play-by-play, Daryl Johnston as analyst)

  • Radio: KRLV-AM (920), KOMP-FM (92.3) (Jason Horowitz and Lincoln Kennedy)

  • Betting Line: Broncos favored by 3 points, with a total over/under of 36

Game Outlook

With both teams sitting at 2-2, this AFC West clash carries significant weight as they look to keep pace in the division. For the Raiders, managing the distractions surrounding Adams and adjusting to potential key injuries will be critical. The Broncos, on the other hand, will rely on their defense and hope their offense can find more consistency.

This matchup will also test the mental toughness of the Raiders, as they look to overcome both internal and external challenges in a hostile environment at Mile High Stadium. A win would not only put the Raiders above .500 but also help restore some stability after a turbulent week. Conversely, the Broncos will be seeking their third consecutive victory, relying on their defense to continue their winning streak and climb the standings in a competitive division.

Both teams have a lot on the line, and with tensions running high, this game is sure to be an intense, hard-fought battle.

🎰 Tropicana Las Vegas Set for Early Morning Implosion as City Prepares for Historic Event

Las Vegas is about to bid farewell to one of its iconic landmarks as the remaining towers of the Tropicana casino-hotel are set to be demolished in a highly anticipated controlled implosion. Scheduled for 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday, the implosion will last just 22 seconds but will mark the end of an era for the Rat Pack-era casino that has stood at the corner of Tropicana Avenue and Las Vegas Boulevard since 1957. The event will be preceded by a fireworks and drone show, adding to the spectacle.

Limited Viewing Options for Spectators

Despite the excitement surrounding the Tropicana's demolition, viewing opportunities will be limited due to safety measures. A safety perimeter will be established around the site, restricting pedestrian access and leading to multiple road closures in the area. As a result, there will be no designated public viewing areas.

Many of the typical high-rise locations that offer views of the Strip—such as The Strat and Legacy Club at Circa—will be inaccessible to the general public due to the timing of the event, which takes place in the early hours of the morning.

Best Places to Watch

For those determined to witness the historic implosion in person, nearby parking garages may offer the best views. The New York New York and MGM Grand casino-hotel parking garages have unobstructed views of the site, though MGM Resorts International has not confirmed whether these locations will remain open for public access during the event.

One of the prime spots to watch the implosion is the Foundation Room at Mandalay Bay, located on the 63rd floor. However, this sought-after venue is hosting a sold-out viewing party in partnership with LiveNation.

Additionally, Ellis Island casino-hotel on Koval Lane is hosting its own viewing party. The festivities at The Front Yard will include Las Vegas trivia and karaoke, culminating with a clear view of the implosion.

Other Viewing Options for Locals

Locals in Las Vegas might have better luck finding a spot in nearby neighborhoods. Several parks in Summerlin and Centennial Hills on the west and northwest sides of the valley offer distant views of the Strip. Meanwhile, the east and southeast parts of the valley feature additional areas with potential sightlines, though distance and darkness may diminish the experience.

For those who prefer to stay at home or avoid the crowds, the Las Vegas Review-Journal will provide a livestream of the event, and local television stations will also broadcast the implosion live.

The End of an Era and the Future of the Site

The Tropicana, which has been a part of the Las Vegas skyline for over six decades, is being demolished to make way for a new baseball stadium and resort development. Bally’s Corp., which holds the gaming license for the now-shuttered property, along with the Oakland Athletics, has announced plans to build a $1.5 billion stadium on nine acres of the 35-acre site. The new ballpark will serve as the future home of the A’s, with a potential hotel-resort being developed at a later stage.

While the stadium project has been confirmed, details about the resort and funding for the stadium have yet to be publicly disclosed. The Tropicana demolition is expected to cost around $1.2 million, involving 2,100 pounds of explosives to bring down the Club Tower and the Paradise Tower.

The implosion marks the end of one of Las Vegas’ oldest casinos and paves the way for a new chapter in the city's ongoing transformation. Locals and visitors alike will soon say goodbye to a piece of Las Vegas history, watching as it crumbles into dust, making room for what’s to come.

Clark County Commission Races Could Shake Up All-Democratic Board

Las Vegas gaming equipment manufacturer Light & Wonder has begun removing its approximately 2,200 Dragon Train-themed slot machines from North American casinos in compliance with a court order issued in September. The company is removing the games after U.S. District Court Judge Gloria Navarro granted Aristocrat Technologies Inc. an injunction, claiming that Dragon Train illegally used intellectual property developed for Aristocrat’s popular Dragon Link and Lightning Link games.

Despite the setback, Light & Wonder plans to introduce alternative branded machines and continue developing Dragon Train 2.0, a revised version of the game. Matt Wilson, CEO of Light & Wonder, stated that the designer of Dragon Train is no longer with the company and confirmed they will comply with the court’s October 23 deadline to remove the machines.

Compliance and Future Plans

Wilson acknowledged that the Dragon Train machines represent a small fraction of the company’s total market presence, accounting for about 5% of its installed gaming units. He expressed confidence in replacing Dragon Train machines with games from Light & Wonder’s existing portfolio, which includes titles such as Ultimate Fire Link, Dancing Drums, and Wizard of Oz.

“We’re working very diligently with our customers to convert those games out in compliance with the judge’s order,” Wilson said. He also noted that despite the ruling, there have been no removal requests from their customers, and the company is already planning to backfill with alternative game titles.

Stock Impact and Investor Confidence

The court’s decision caused Light & Wonder’s stock to plunge, wiping out $1.3 billion in market value as shares fell from $113.72 to $90.41 on September 24. However, the stock has since rebounded slightly, closing at $93.39 on Friday. Despite the drop, analysts like Barry Jonas of Truist Securities remain optimistic, maintaining a "buy" rating on Light & Wonder’s stock. Jonas believes that the issue is isolated to the Dragon Train game and is unlikely to have a long-term impact on the company’s overall revenue targets.

Light & Wonder continues to engage with casino operators to replace the Dragon Train slots with other titles, reinforcing investor confidence in the company’s ability to mitigate losses and remain competitive.

Legal and Financial Investigations

In parallel, Hagens Berman, a San Francisco-based law firm, has begun investigating potential wrongdoing by Light & Wonder, looking into whether the company misled investors regarding its gaming revenue growth and use of Aristocrat’s intellectual property. The investigation could lead to a class-action lawsuit on behalf of shareholders if it is found that Light & Wonder knowingly violated IP laws or misrepresented its financial health.

Hagens Berman cited the court’s statement that Aristocrat is "extremely likely to succeed" in proving that Light & Wonder misappropriated trade secrets, potentially developing Dragon Train without the equivalent time and investment.

What’s Next?

As Light & Wonder works to remove the disputed games and roll out replacements, the company will continue to navigate the legal and financial ramifications of the court order. The upcoming Global Gaming Expo in Las Vegas next week is expected to provide further insight into Light & Wonder’s future strategies as industry leaders gather to showcase new products and developments.

Despite these challenges, the company remains committed to delivering innovative gaming experiences while addressing legal and financial concerns.
