💰 4 Million Embezzlement Lawsuit Filed Against ATM Provider Zyng Corp, Employees Accused

A recent lawsuit filed by the CEO of 247 ATM Providers, V. Ravi Chandran, alleges that over $4 million was embezzled from ATMs over a period of nearly two years. The claim centers on fraudulent receipts created by employees of Zyng Corp, a company contracted by 247 ATM Providers to handle cash loading for ATMs. The lawsuit, filed on October 1, 2024, names Zyng Corp, its subsidiary Zyng Technologies, and several employees as defendants.

The Alleged Scheme: Fraudulent Receipts and Missing Cash

According to the lawsuit, Zyng Technologies' employees produced two receipts each time they loaded cash into ATMs: one fraudulent and one real. The fraudulent receipt falsely showed that the intended amount of cash was loaded into the machines and was submitted for official records. The real receipt, which indicated a shortage after some funds were pocketed by couriers, was discarded. This system allegedly allowed employees to siphon off large sums of money undetected.

Chandran’s suspicions led him to order an audit, which revealed discrepancies in cash amounts. Auditor Philip Beckett, whose report was issued on August 29, concluded that $4,425,050 had been stolen. Beckett did not respond to requests for further comment.

The Dispute Over the Audit Findings

While Chandran’s audit claims a multimillion-dollar loss, Zyng Corp’s executives dispute the figure. Zyng Corp’s Chief Operating Officer, David Rankine, and CEO Darrell Osadchuk stated that their internal audits showed a much lower amount of embezzlement—approximately $850,000. Osadchuk asserted that Zyng did not own the stolen cash but acknowledged their responsibility for the loss as the employer of the implicated staff.

In an email, Osadchuk said, “A few of our employees may have stuck their hand in the cookie jar, but it was not Zyng’s money.” He added that 247 ATM Providers, as the account owner, had ultimate responsibility for ordering and auditing funds. Osadchuk expressed skepticism about the audit findings, indicating that Zyng had not yet been served with the lawsuit and was awaiting additional audits for clarity.

A Complicated Backdrop: The Death of a Former Employee

One of the individuals named in Chandran’s suspicions, 19-year-old Conner Rebolledo, was killed in a robbery on July 19, 2024. Police reports indicated that two suspects, Skylar Bailey and Emiley Ridout, targeted Rebolledo because of his social media posts showing large sums of cash, a habit stemming from his work at the ATM company. Authorities have not connected Rebolledo’s death directly to the embezzlement case described in the lawsuit. Bailey, Ridout, and a third person, Nathan Nava, face open murder charges related to Rebolledo’s death.

Zyng Technologies' Response and Planned Countersuit

Zyng Technologies denies having full access to the bank accounts involved, asserting they could not have monitored employee theft if it occurred. “We’re just dealers in the machines; it was their procedures and their money,” Rankine commented. Osadchuk also emphasized that the systems and procedures in question were designed by 247 ATM Providers, not Zyng Technologies.

The lawsuit also names four Zyng employees as defendants: Kevin Garcia, Sam Hernandez, Adrian Gaytan, and Andrew Chang. Rankine described these employees as “low-level” staff, distancing the allegations from Zyng’s directors and senior management.

Osadchuk and Rankine have announced that Zyng plans to countersue, alleging defamation and misinformation. They claim that the lawsuit is based on exaggerated figures and inaccuracies.

The Legal Battle Ahead

Sagar Raich, attorney for 247 ATM Providers, defended the lawsuit, stating that legal action was necessary to recover losses and seek justice. “Judicial intervention and going to court was the only way they believe that they can get justice at this time,” Raich said. The case highlights the complexities of financial security and accountability within cash-handling operations, as both parties prepare for what could be a prolonged legal dispute.

As the case develops, the extent of the financial discrepancies and the exact role of Zyng’s employees remain under scrutiny. Zyng’s leadership insists the amount stolen is significantly less than what the lawsuit claims, and they continue to await further auditing to substantiate their defense. Meanwhile, 247 ATM Providers aims to hold Zyng accountable for what they allege is a substantial breach of trust and financial misconduct.

🏒 Golden Knights Suffer Heartbreaking Loss to Lightning in Last-Minute Comeback

In a near repeat of last season’s dramatic finish, the Vegas Golden Knights fell to the Tampa Bay Lightning 4-3 on Thursday night at Amalie Arena. For the second consecutive year, the Knights surrendered a game-winning goal in the final minute against the Lightning. This time, it was right wing Nikita Kucherov who delivered the decisive blow, scoring with just 55 seconds remaining. His shot from the outside of the left circle deflected off defenseman Nic Hague’s skate, slipping past goaltender Adin Hill.

The loss was eerily similar to the Golden Knights’ December 21, 2022 matchup in Tampa Bay, when Lightning forward Nick Paul scored the game-winner from nearly the same spot with 1:13 left, giving the Lightning a 5-4 victory. Kucherov’s goal on Thursday came just 1:27 after left wing Brandon Hagel tied the game, turning a 3-2 Knights’ lead into a crushing defeat.

Golden Knights captain Mark Stone expressed his frustration post-game, emphasizing the importance of closing out tight games. “We just let our guard down,” Stone said. “Two minutes left, you’ve got to find ways to bear down.” Stone’s comments reflect the team’s disappointment in a game that saw them play with control and poise for most of the 60 minutes.

Strong Start Fades for the Knights

The Knights, now sitting at 3-2-0 this season, played with energy and intensity throughout most of the game. They jumped out to an early lead when defenseman Brayden McNabb scored just over five minutes into the first period. McNabb’s goal was the team’s first shot of the game, setting an aggressive tone early. However, Tampa Bay quickly responded as defenseman Janis Moser equalized less than five minutes later, catching the Knights’ defense off guard.

Vegas regained their lead later in the first period when Pavel Dorofeyev netted a power-play goal with 4:40 left. The Knights appeared poised to take their 2-1 advantage into the first intermission, but a costly turnover from defenseman Shea Theodore led to a breakaway opportunity for Kucherov and left wing Jake Guentzel. Kucherov capitalized, scoring with just 13 seconds remaining to tie the game 2-2 and shift momentum back to Tampa Bay.

Theodore redeemed himself early in the second period, setting up left wing Ivan Barbashev’s goal just 1:59 into the frame to put the Knights ahead 3-2. It was Theodore’s second assist of the night, and the Knights tightened up defensively for much of the remaining period. Even when faced with adversity, such as two penalties within 50 seconds late in the second period, the team showed resilience by killing off a 5-on-3 power play opportunity for the Lightning.

A Promising Effort Undone

Despite holding a one-goal lead entering the third period and playing a solid defensive game, the Golden Knights couldn’t keep the Lightning at bay. Coach Bruce Cassidy expressed his satisfaction with the team’s overall play but noted the need for improvement in limiting rush chances, specifically those that led to Hagel’s tying goal. Hagel found an opening and beat Hill through traffic, setting up Kucherov’s game-winner just minutes later.

“We’ve got to be able to finish games and have killer instincts,” McNabb said after the game. “We were playing the right way.” The Knights controlled play for the majority of the game, demonstrating their defensive capabilities, but were undone by small breakdowns and a lack of finishing power in the final moments.

Goaltender Adin Hill, who finished with 21 saves, showed flashes of brilliance, particularly in the second period when he made two spectacular stops on Kucherov. Hill’s glove save on Kucherov’s one-timer and subsequent rebound block were among the highlights of the game. While his performance was commendable, Hill's early-season struggles persist; he now has an .851 save percentage and a 3.81 goals-against average in four starts.

Notable Performances and Milestones

While the loss stung, there were bright spots for the Golden Knights. Center Jack Eichel continued his impressive start to the season, notching two assists to bring his point total to 10 in five games. Eichel’s performance marks his third multipoint game this season, putting him among the NHL’s top scorers. Only Pittsburgh Penguins center Evgeni Malkin and New York Rangers left wing Artemi Panarin have more points, with both at 11.

Eichel’s contributions have been instrumental in the team’s offense, and he, along with Stone, has now recorded a point in each of the first five games of the season. This ties Stone’s franchise record set in 2021 for the longest point streak to start a season.

The Knights’ penalty kill also shone brightly, particularly during the 5-on-3 power play for the Lightning late in the second period. Defenseman Zach Whitecloud was penalized for slashing, followed by a bench penalty for too many men on the ice. Despite being down two skaters, the Knights limited Tampa Bay to just two shots, both saved by Hill, while blocking four attempts. The successful penalty kill highlighted the team’s defensive prowess, a positive takeaway despite the end result.

Looking Ahead: Rematch with the Panthers

With two consecutive losses to begin their three-game road trip, the Golden Knights aim to bounce back when they face the Florida Panthers on Saturday. This matchup serves as a rematch of the 2023 Stanley Cup Final, where Vegas triumphed to claim their first championship. Cassidy and his team are aware that while the early-season losses are disappointing, there’s time to make adjustments.

“The little details matter,” McNabb emphasized. “We’ll get our minds right and turn the page.” The Knights will need to tighten their defense and maintain focus in the final minutes of play to secure a win in their next outing. Facing the Panthers will be another significant test, but the Knights hope to use the lessons learned in Tampa Bay to their advantage.

Three Key Takeaways from the Game

  1. Hill’s Spectacular Saves: Despite the late-game disappointment, Adin Hill’s performance showcased his potential. His glove saves against Kucherov in the second period were among his best of the season. Hill's ability to make crucial stops could be a confidence booster as the team moves forward.

  2. Penalty Kill Excellence: The Knights demonstrated their defensive strength when they successfully killed off a critical 5-on-3 power play late in the second period. This effort showed that Vegas can rise to the challenge even in high-pressure situations, which bodes well for their penalty kill unit going forward.

  3. Eichel’s Offensive Surge: Jack Eichel’s two-assist performance further solidifies his position as one of the league’s top performers early in the season. His consistent scoring streak, alongside Stone’s, gives the Knights a potent offensive edge they’ll look to capitalize on throughout the season.

As the Golden Knights head into the weekend, they will need to focus on closing out games and converting strong performances into points if they hope to continue their promising start to the season.

😋 Flower Child Expands in Las Vegas Valley with New Henderson Location

Flower Child, a popular health-focused restaurant known for its fresh, garden-inspired dishes, is expanding in the Las Vegas Valley. The Summerlin favorite is opening a second location in Henderson’s bustling District at Green Valley Ranch on November 12, 2024. The new space, designed to bring the same cozy, nature-infused atmosphere as its first, will be followed by the opening of North Italia, its Italian-themed sibling, the next day.

“The inspiration for Flower Child is a potting shed — that’s how Sam Fox, our founder, envisioned it,” said David Luz, divisional vice president of operations. Fox, the renowned restaurateur behind the concept, sold Flower Child to The Cheesecake Factory, which has since continued expanding the brand nationwide.

A Vibrant New Space in Henderson

The new Henderson location stands out with a custom-built design that contrasts with the Summerlin spot, which had to fit into an existing space. Located at 2215 Village View Drive along the northern edge of The District, the restaurant is strategically positioned on an elevated grade, making it visible from multiple angles. Luz highlighted the visibility as a major advantage, expecting it to draw in both regulars and curious newcomers alike. “If they don’t know us, people will be saying, ‘What is that?’” Luz said, emphasizing the building’s eye-catching appearance.

Adorned with a mural of a lemon tree and uplifting phrases like “peace is always beautiful,” the Henderson location features vibrant yellow and green tones, a striped green-and-white awning, and a stylish corrugated pediment at the entrance, creating a welcoming and bright aesthetic.

The new space is approximately 4,000 square feet, accommodating up to 140 guests with both indoor seating and a spacious terrace. Luz confirmed that the Henderson branch will offer the same menu as other locations, showcasing Flower Child’s signature focus on healthy, seasonal dishes.

Fall Menu Highlights

Flower Child’s new Henderson outpost will debut with its fall menu, offering a variety of fresh, colorful options. The fall lineup includes a Roasted Beet and Organic Apple Salad, featuring grains, candied walnuts, spinach, frisée, goat cheese, and pomegranate seeds for a burst of flavor. Another seasonal highlight is a Butternut and Delicata Squash Side, which pairs maple-glazed squash with crushed pecans and red onions.

One of Flower Child’s most beloved dishes, the Yuzu Brussels Sprouts, makes a return this fall. Tossed with golden miso and Thai basil, this side has become a fan favorite. “Everybody is always excited when our Brussels sprouts come back,” Luz shared.

Flower Child’s menu staples, including their customizable main courses, remain available. Guests can build their own entrées by selecting a protein like sliced steak and combining it with sides such as gluten-free mac and cheese and roasted broccoli. The restaurant will also serve the popular Mother Earth Bowl, featuring ancient grains, sweet potato, portobello mushrooms, avocado, and cucumbers for a nutrient-packed meal.

Tapping into the Henderson Market

The Henderson location will be Flower Child’s 36th restaurant nationwide, as the brand continues to grow. Luz explained that Henderson has been on their radar for some time, citing its demographics and vibrant community as a perfect fit for the restaurant’s health-focused offerings. “We’re a growth company, and we’re always looking for the next great location,” Luz stated. “Henderson has a great demographic.”

Located next to North Italia, another concept from the Fox Restaurant Group, the new Flower Child aims to build synergy with its neighboring restaurant, offering a diverse range of dining options for residents and visitors in the area. “We love the fact that we are right next door to North Italia,” Luz said.

Flower Child’s Growing Footprint

Flower Child’s expansion into Henderson aligns with its mission to promote healthy eating in accessible and engaging settings. Known for its vibrant atmosphere and garden-inspired design, the restaurant brand has become a go-to for those seeking fresh, nutritious meals in a casual environment.

With its latest location, Flower Child continues to cultivate a welcoming space where customers can enjoy dishes that are both wholesome and flavorful. The restaurant’s signature motto, “Healthy Food for a Happy World,” is reflected not just in the menu, but in the uplifting and colorful atmosphere of its locations.

As the grand opening approaches, the new Flower Child in Henderson aims to become a local favorite, adding to the culinary diversity of The District and enhancing the dining experience for the growing community in Green Valley Ranch. Whether it’s a bowl of nutrient-rich greens or a warm plate of roasted seasonal vegetables, Flower Child hopes to offer something for everyone when its doors open in mid-November.

Love. Peace. Roasted beets — and the next chapter of Flower Child’s Las Vegas story.
