🎶 Las Vegas Set for Nostalgia-Fueled 2025 When We Were Young with Panic! At The Disco, Blink-182
Las Vegas rock band Panic! At The Disco will take center stage as one of the headliners for the 2025 When We Were Young festival on the Strip, joining pop-punk icons Blink-182 for a nostalgia-packed lineup. The festival, set for October 18, 2025, at the Las Vegas Festival Grounds, will be the fourth edition of this popular event, which has become a major annual gathering for fans of 2000s rock, pop-punk, and emo music.
Panic! At The Disco’s headlining performance will celebrate a special milestone: the 20th anniversary of their debut album, A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out, which they’ll play in its entirety. Released in 2005, the album propelled the band to fame with hit singles like "I Write Sins Not Tragedies" and "But It's Better If You Do." The anniversary performance is expected to draw fans eager to relive the early days of the band and their original sound.
In addition to Panic! At The Disco and Blink-182, the lineup features a star-studded roster of rock and punk veterans. Weezer, Avril Lavigne, The Offspring, The Used, and All Time Low are set to perform, along with hardcore band Knocked Loose, pop-punk favorite The Rocket Summer, and emo outfit Jack’s Mannequin, among others. The lineup reflects the festival’s commitment to blending mainstream names with beloved cult acts, promising an experience that resonates with fans of the 2000s rock era.
For those eager to secure tickets, fans can join the festival’s SMS list at WhenWeWereYoungFestival.com to receive a presale access code. The presale opens on Friday, November 1, at 10 a.m., with any remaining tickets available to the public starting at 2 p.m. that same day. With the festival’s popularity in recent years, tickets are expected to sell quickly, especially with the special anniversary performance from Panic! At The Disco.
🏒 Knights’ Defense and Kolesar’s Double Lead to 5-0 Shutout Over Calgary Flames
The Vegas Golden Knights delivered a powerful defensive performance on Monday night, shutting out the Calgary Flames 5-0 at T-Mobile Arena and extending their record-setting home winning streak to seven games. This latest victory also concluded their four-game homestand, where they outscored opponents 24-8, underscoring the team's current hot streak.
Keegan Kolesar was a standout with two goals and an assist, while Nicolas Roy added a goal and two assists. Defenseman Alex Pietrangelo scored his first goal of the season, and captain Mark Stone added another. Goaltender Adin Hill made 16 saves for his first shutout, bolstered by a stifling defense that limited the Flames to just 10 shots in the final two periods.
“Sometimes your team gets hot at certain times and we’re going through one of those,” said head coach Bruce Cassidy. “I’d love to keep up this pace… Things are going in for us.”
Key Moments and Highlights:
Pietrangelo opened scoring in the first period, marking his first goal since February. Stone added to the lead early in the second period with a one-timer off a pass from Jack Eichel.
The Flames pressured early, with an effective cycle game, but the Knights adjusted, eventually controlling play and outshooting Calgary.
Kolesar scored twice in the third, first from a setup by Cole Schwindt—who had two assists in his first game against his former team—and then from Roy, whom he assisted just 15 seconds later.
Roy praised the team’s performance, noting their offensive dominance and high confidence level.
Takeaways from the Knights’ Win:
Holtz Extends Streak: Right wing Alexander Holtz’s assist on Pietrangelo’s goal pushed his point streak to four games, his longest so far. Holtz has surged in production after a slow start, contributing four points over the last four games, with significant support from center William Karlsson.
Star Players Excel: Stone, named the NHL’s first star of the week, continued his strong performance with his fifth goal of the season. Eichel also added to his impressive stats, marking his 100th assist as a Knight, reaching the milestone in 174 games—just behind Stone’s record of 151 games.
Defensive Domination: The Knights’ defensive display in the second period was their most complete of the season. Calgary was held to only three shots on target, with no shots on goal until the final two minutes. Hill, who had allowed three goals in each of his previous five starts, was given a well-earned reprieve by the team’s tightened defense.
The Golden Knights now turn their focus to earning their first road win of the season as they travel to face the Los Angeles Kings on Wednesday, hoping to carry their defensive momentum forward.

🎰 Nevada Gaming Control Board: September Revenue Up, But Quarter Lags Due to Baccarat
Nevada’s gaming revenue saw a rebound in September after two months of declines, with the state’s casinos bringing in $1.31 billion—a 3.3% increase from September 2023—according to the Nevada Gaming Control Board’s latest report. However, despite this uptick, the overall gaming revenue for the first quarter of the 2024-25 fiscal year lagged behind the previous year by 2.6%.
Analysts attribute the first-quarter decline not to a slowing trend but to fluctuations in baccarat, a high-stakes game known for its revenue volatility. Michael Lawton, senior economic analyst for the Nevada Gaming Control Board, explained that the drop was primarily due to a significantly lower "hold" percentage on baccarat. In the same quarter of 2023, casinos saw an exceptionally high 21.5% hold, compared to this year’s below-average 11.6%. Lawton noted that without baccarat in the equation, the state’s overall gaming win would have actually risen by 3.3%, or $114.2 million, with the Las Vegas Strip up by 3.4%, or $60.8 million.
The September recovery was in line with Lawton’s earlier predictions. He had noted that the timing of revenue collections likely influenced August’s downturn, with September poised for a positive swing.
Breaking down performance by region, the Las Vegas Strip recorded a slight decline of 1.8% in gaming win, totaling $727.7 million. However, other areas in and around Las Vegas saw notable gains. Downtown Las Vegas reported a 33% increase, the Boulder Strip rose by 19.3%, and outlying areas of Clark County, which includes Henderson, grew by 15.9%. Northern Nevada saw mixed results; Reno posted a 12.4% increase, while South and North Lake Tahoe experienced the largest declines statewide, down 18.8% and 14.8%, respectively.
These figures provide insight into Nevada’s casino performance amid an evolving economic landscape, highlighting the ongoing volatility within certain gaming sectors while affirming the strength of others.
❎ Gov. Lombardo Deploys National Guard to Assist on Election Day
Gov. Joe Lombardo announced Monday that the Nevada National Guard will support local law enforcement on Election Day to enhance security and preparedness. Sixty Guard members will be activated and stationed in Carson City and Las Vegas on Nov. 5 to assist as needed, primarily for tasks like traffic management, building security, and facilitating communications.
"Being prepared is essential, especially on days of heightened activity like Election Day," Lombardo stated, underscoring that this measure aligns with his commitment to public safety and readiness. The governor’s office framed this move as one of several proactive strategies to ensure quick responses to potential disruptions.
While the press release did not specify any known threats, it suggested possible scenarios, such as severe weather, where additional personnel could be beneficial. The National Guard members will remain on standby, prepared to support state and local agencies only if required.
This decision was reached in collaboration with Nevada election officials and local leaders, emphasizing a unified approach to Election Day security. Nevada Secretary of State Cisco Aguilar expressed support, highlighting that this additional layer of assistance allows local law enforcement and election workers to concentrate on conducting a secure election without stretching their resources.
These added measures are intended to maintain a smooth and secure voting process, reassuring Nevada residents that state officials are taking every precaution to handle any unforeseen events.
