🏋️‍♀️Municipal Gym: Mark Wahlberg Brings Luxury Fitness to Downtown Summerlin

Actor and entrepreneur Mark Wahlberg is adding another venture to his growing Las Vegas portfolio: a state-of-the-art gym. Wahlberg announced the new project, Municipal Gym Fitness and Recovery, in an Instagram video early Friday morning. The gym, powered by EōS Fitness, will be located in Downtown Summerlin and named after Wahlberg’s sportswear brand, Municipal.

“This will be the first time in history that luxury and serious fitness meet,” Wahlberg said in the video, hinting at a blend of high-end amenities and rigorous fitness programs.

A Comprehensive Fitness Destination

Wahlberg’s gym aims to redefine the workout experience by combining traditional fitness elements with luxury features. The facility will include cutting-edge workout equipment and recovery services designed to meet the needs of fitness enthusiasts and professional athletes alike. In addition to its core fitness offerings, the gym will also feature:

  • Juice Bars and Cafés: Providing healthy refreshments for pre- and post-workout needs.

  • Retail and Apparel: Offering Municipal’s sportswear and other fitness-related gear.

  • Vitamins and Supplements: Supporting members' health and wellness goals with top-quality products.

This holistic approach emphasizes not just physical fitness but also recovery, nutrition, and lifestyle, setting a new standard in the fitness industry.

Expanding His Las Vegas Presence

Since relocating to Las Vegas in 2022, Wahlberg has become a prominent figure in the city’s business and entertainment landscape. His ventures include Flecha Cantina, a restaurant in Town Square offering a fusion of Mexican flavors and tequila-based cocktails.

Wahlberg is also a key player in a proposed Sony Entertainment film studio in Summerlin, which aims to boost Las Vegas as a hub for film production. His involvement in these diverse projects showcases his commitment to transforming the city into a destination for business, entertainment, and lifestyle innovation.

Why Las Vegas?

Wahlberg has often spoken about his decision to move to Las Vegas, citing the city’s family-friendly environment, growing economy, and opportunities for expansion. In interviews, he’s expressed a desire to contribute to the community by creating jobs and bringing new experiences to residents and visitors alike.

What’s Next?

With an opening date yet to be announced, anticipation for Municipal Gym Fitness and Recovery is building. Wahlberg’s track record of successful ventures suggests that the gym will not only attract fitness enthusiasts but also set a new benchmark for luxury fitness experiences in Las Vegas.

As Wahlberg continues to expand his footprint in the city, it’s clear he’s not just visiting Las Vegas—he’s helping to reshape it.

🏒 Noah Hanifin Leads Golden Knights to First Road Win of the Season

The Vegas Golden Knights snapped their road-game losing streak Wednesday with a dramatic 4-2 victory over the Edmonton Oilers at Rogers Place. Defenseman Noah Hanifin delivered a standout performance, scoring twice in the third period, including the game-winner with just 48.4 seconds remaining. The win marked the Knights’ first road victory of the season, improving their record to 9-3-1.

“It was kind of starting to get into our heads a little bit,” Hanifin said of the team’s early road struggles. “When you play on the road, you have to grind those games out.”

Hanifin's Heroics

Hanifin has found his form after a slow start to the season. His two-goal performance Wednesday followed a three-point game last Saturday against the Utah Hockey Club. In that game, he scored his first goal of the season, a buzzer-beater to tie the score, and the Knights eventually secured an overtime win.

Against the Oilers, Hanifin’s power-play goal at 10:05 of the third period tied the game at 2-2. As time wound down, he capitalized on a defensive lapse by Edmonton, scoring glove side off an assist from Ivan Barbashev to give the Knights a 3-2 lead. Captain Mark Stone sealed the game with an empty-net goal in the final seconds.

Offensive Contributions and Defensive Depth

The Knights’ success against Edmonton was fueled by contributions from multiple players. Center Jack Eichel had a goal and two assists, while goaltender Adin Hill made 27 saves, delivering his best performance of the season. Hill’s crucial save on Viktor Arvidsson early in the third period helped keep the game within reach.

Hanifin’s resurgence has been a major boost for the team. Since being paired with Alex Pietrangelo on October 22, Hanifin has recorded seven points (three goals, four assists) and boasts a plus-9 rating at five-on-five play. His offensive output complements the Knights’ deep defensive lineup, which includes Pietrangelo and Shea Theodore, who have combined for 22 points in 13 games.

“He just moves so well,” defenseman Brayden McNabb said of Hanifin. “He’s playing awesome right now, and it’s great to see.”

Takeaways from the Game

1. Ending Road Struggles

The Knights had been outscored 18-11 in their first four road games (0-3-1), but Wednesday’s win showcased their resilience. They tightened their defensive play and limited Edmonton’s top stars, Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, to no points. The Oilers’ only goals came from a deflection and a lucky bounce.

Hill’s performance was crucial, as he allowed fewer than three goals for the first time this season. The confidence boost for both the team and its goaltender couldn’t have come at a better time.

2. Brayden McNabb’s Milestone

Defenseman Brayden McNabb became the franchise’s all-time leader in games played with 515 appearances, surpassing Jonathan Marchessault. McNabb, an original "Misfit" from the 2017 expansion draft, has been a model of durability and consistency. He also extended his streak of consecutive games played to 191.

3. Ben Hutton's Season Debut

Veteran defenseman Ben Hutton made his first appearance of the season, replacing Nic Hague, who is day-to-day with a lower-body injury. Paired with Zach Whitecloud, Hutton logged 13:18 of ice time and registered one shot. His steady play provided depth to the Knights' defense.

Looking Ahead

The Golden Knights will look to build on their road success as they aim to stay atop the Western Conference standings. With their defense firing on all cylinders and Hanifin emerging as a key contributor, the team is poised to continue its strong start to the season.

💲 Stock Market Rallies as Investors React to Trump’s Return

The U.S. stock market surged Wednesday, with major indexes climbing as investors speculated on the economic impact of Donald Trump’s return to the White House. The S&P 500 rose 2%, approaching record highs, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 1,304 points (3.1%) by midday. The Nasdaq composite also jumped 2.3%, driven by optimism around deregulation, tax cuts, and increased tariffs under a Trump administration.

Peter Esho of Esho Capital noted, “The market is pricing in a higher growth and higher inflation outlook,” as investors recalibrate expectations based on Trump’s economic policies. However, much hinges on whether Republicans secure congressional control, which could influence the extent of Trump’s proposed changes.

Key Market Winners and Losers

Winners

  • Bank Stocks
Financial institutions led the rally, with hopes of a stronger economy and lighter regulation. JPMorgan Chase rose 8.3%, while financial stocks within the S&P 500 jumped 4.5%. The prospect of deregulation could spark more mergers and acquisitions, providing lucrative fees for investment banks.

  • Cryptocurrency
Bitcoin surged to an all-time high, surpassing $75,000, as Trump pledged to establish the U.S. as the "crypto capital of the planet." Companies like Coinbase benefited, with its stock soaring 17%. Trump's proposed "strategic reserve" of bitcoin has fueled optimism among crypto investors.

  • Tesla
Despite potential risks to the EV industry from reduced subsidies, Tesla's close ties with Trump and its dominant market position drove its stock up 11.8%. Meanwhile, competitors like Rivian saw declines, with its shares falling 6.4%.

  • Trump Media & Technology Group
The parent company of Truth Social climbed 10.5%, despite reporting a $19.2 million loss last quarter. The stock often moves in tandem with Trump’s political fortunes.

Losers

  • Treasury Bonds
Yields on 10-year Treasury notes spiked to 4.45% from 4.29%, as investors anticipate increased government borrowing to fund tax cuts and infrastructure projects. Rising yields typically indicate declining bond prices, driven by inflation and growth expectations.

  • Foreign Currencies
The Mexican peso dropped 1.6% against the U.S. dollar, reflecting investor concerns over Trump’s tariff threats on imports from countries like Mexico and China. These tariffs could exacerbate trade tensions and hurt export-driven economies.

  • Renewable Energy Stocks
Solar power companies took a hit as Trump’s energy policy favors fossil fuels. First Solar dropped 12.4%, while Enphase Energy plunged 14.2%. Analysts predict reduced incentives for renewable energy under the new administration.

Inflation Concerns Rise

Trump’s trade policies, including a proposed 10% tariff on all imports, are expected to drive up inflation. Andrzej Skiba of RBC Global Asset Management warns, “This could add 1% to inflation,” potentially derailing the Federal Reserve’s plans for interest rate cuts. Although a Fed rate cut is still anticipated on Thursday, investors are scaling back expectations for additional reductions in 2024.

Looking Ahead

While markets are buoyant for now, analysts caution that volatility could return as Trump’s policies begin to take shape. Investors will closely monitor upcoming congressional developments and the Federal Reserve’s stance on interest rates.
