⛽ Las Vegas Gas Prices
💲 Las Vegas Restaurants Face Rising Prices, Shifting Consumer Habits
Dining out in Las Vegas has never been more expensive. As inflation drives up the cost of food, labor, and operational expenses, restaurants across the city—from fast-food joints to fine dining establishments—are grappling with how to adapt.
Steep Price Hikes Across the Board
Nationally, menu prices have risen over 27% since February 2020, with Nevada ranking fifth for restaurant inflation. Everyday items like iced espresso have seen price jumps of more than 20% in the past year.
These increases reflect what many consumers feel when dining out. Whether it’s a quick meal or a luxurious night out, eating at restaurants now comes with a significantly higher price tag.
Why Prices Are Rising
The primary driver of higher restaurant prices is inflation. Costs for food, labor, and essentials like rent and utilities have risen sharply. Chain restaurants can mitigate these pressures by leveraging economies of scale and negotiating lower supplier costs. Independent establishments, however, face a tougher battle.
Without the same resources as larger chains, independent restaurants must carefully manage rising costs while remaining competitive. This often requires a balance of raising prices and maintaining customer satisfaction.
Challenges for Independent Restaurants
Independent operators face unique challenges in Las Vegas. With the city’s heavy reliance on tourism and its position as a global dining destination, these restaurants must find ways to stand out while managing increased expenses.
For some, this means constant evaluation of their menus and operations. Every detail, down to the garnishes on cocktails, is scrutinized to ensure costs remain under control. The need to maintain a unique identity and offer a compelling dining experience is more critical than ever.
Rising Costs Across the Menu
The impact of inflation is visible in both high-end and everyday ingredients. Expensive proteins like beef and seafood have seen significant price hikes, but so have staples like eggs and butter. Packaging and delivery costs have also risen, adding to the financial burden.
Delivery services, which have become a customer expectation, take a substantial cut of each order. While they can boost sales, the fees further reduce profit margins, leaving restaurants with difficult choices about whether to absorb the costs or pass them on to customers.
Adapting to New Realities
In response to these challenges, many restaurants are implementing creative cost-saving measures. Some are focusing on reducing waste by utilizing every part of the ingredients they purchase. Others are reevaluating their labor models or seeking efficiencies in kitchen operations.
The Strip’s Influence on Local Dining
Las Vegas’s unique restaurant ecosystem is heavily influenced by the Strip. Large casino properties can absorb cost fluctuations more easily, allowing them to maintain high-end offerings like lavish buffets. These venues also attract a steady stream of tourists willing to spend on premium dining experiences.
For local establishments, the Strip sets a standard that can influence pricing and customer expectations throughout the city. As a result, even neighborhood restaurants may feel pressure to raise their prices to keep pace.
Shifts in Consumer Behavior
Rising costs have led to noticeable changes in how customers dine. Many are opting for less expensive menu items, skipping appetizers or desserts, and seeking out promotions or loyalty programs.
Despite the higher prices, the demand for unique and high-quality dining experiences remains strong. Fine dining continues to thrive as customers seek memorable nights out, complete with exceptional service, ambiance, and cuisine.
Looking Ahead
While the current economic environment presents challenges, Las Vegas remains a vibrant dining destination. Restaurants are finding ways to adapt, ensuring that visitors and locals alike can enjoy a wide range of culinary experiences. Whether it’s a casual meal or a luxurious splurge, dining in Las Vegas continues to offer something for everyone.
🏒 Golden Knights’ Adin Hill Finding His Groove Despite Rocky Start
Goaltenders rarely get the luxury of easing into a season like skaters might after scoring a goal. For Adin Hill, the Vegas Golden Knights’ No. 1 netminder, early struggles have forced him to find confidence through key saves rather than statistics.
Hill’s current record of 6-2-1 is strong, tying him for the fourth-most wins among NHL goalies. Yet, his personal numbers — a .881 save percentage and a 3.13 goals-against average — are among the league’s lowest for goalies with six or more wins.
Despite this, Hill’s teammates and coaches are quick to defend his performance, emphasizing that many of the 28 goals he has allowed in nine starts weren’t his fault.
Building Momentum Through Key Saves
Hill acknowledges the importance of early saves to help him settle into games.
“When you start the game, it’s always nice to get a couple of shots early. Just to get a feel for it, get into the game,” Hill said. “There’s other games where you don’t get your first shot 10 minutes in, you’re sitting there like a waiting duck.”
Though his numbers might suggest inconsistency, Hill has delivered in critical moments, showcasing the talent that helped lead the Knights to a Stanley Cup two seasons ago.
Highlight Saves Under Pressure
Oct. 17 vs. Tampa Bay Lightning: Hill made back-to-back glove saves against Nikita Kucherov while seated, denying the Art Ross Trophy winner in spectacular fashion. Despite the Knights ultimately losing 4-3, those saves displayed Hill’s resilience.
Nov. 1 vs. Edmonton Oilers: Hill made a diving save on Viktor Arvidsson in the third period, keeping the Knights within one goal. That pivotal stop allowed Vegas to rally for a 4-2 victory, securing their first road win of the season.
“That second spin pass happened, I looked to see the guy there, and I just tried to get a piece of it,” Hill said of the save.
Coach Cassidy’s Confidence in Hill
Head coach Bruce Cassidy sees improvement in Hill’s game, citing better positioning and composure.
“To me, goalies are so much about technique nowadays, just being in the right spot,” Cassidy said. “He just looks more comfortable in there.”
Hill’s ability to make timely saves has bolstered the team’s trust in him, reinforcing why the Knights named him their starting goalie this season.
Balancing Reps and Rest
With a heavy schedule ahead, Hill is expected to start Monday against the Carolina Hurricanes but may get a day off later in the week. Backup Ilya Samsonov, who has been sidelined with soreness, returned to practice Sunday and could relieve Hill during upcoming games against Anaheim or Utah.
Hill is focused on continuing to refine his game. “I’m feeling good about my game,” he said. “Just got to keep working.”
Looking Ahead
While his save percentage and goals-against average remain underwhelming, Hill’s recent performances suggest he’s finding his rhythm. As he continues to deliver in clutch situations, the Knights remain confident he’ll elevate his game as the season progresses.

❎ Sen. Jacky Rosen Re-Elected, Outlines Priorities for Second Term
Nevada Sen. Jacky Rosen delivered a victory speech Saturday afternoon at Teamsters Local 631 in Las Vegas, thanking her supporters for securing her re-election and outlining her legislative priorities for the next six years.
“I know we can keep making progress on issues that matter to us here in Nevada, that matter to us as a country, that matter to us as an American people,” Rosen told a cheering crowd of supporters.
Rosen, a Democrat, defeated Republican challenger Sam Brown by over 20,500 votes, winning 47.9% of the vote to Brown’s 46.4%, according to the Associated Press, with 96% of votes counted.
Rosen’s Deep Ties to Nevada
In her speech, Rosen reflected on her deep roots in the Silver State. “This may sound corny, but I love Nevada,” she said. “From the bright lights of the Vegas Strip to the darkest skies out in Ely.”
She recounted personal milestones, from meeting her husband and raising her daughter in Nevada to burying her parents there, underscoring her connection to the state and its people.
Brown Concedes, Reflects on Campaign
On Saturday morning, Sam Brown thanked his supporters and conceded the race.
“Serving as your nominee has been the honor of a lifetime,” Brown said in a statement. “Though the outcome is not what we hoped, I am deeply moved by the trust, dedication, and hope you’ve shown throughout this journey.”
He emphasized his vision for a renewed fight under the leadership of President-elect Donald Trump, signaling optimism for the future. “This is not a conclusion, but the beginning of a renewed fight for our values and our nation’s greatness,” Brown said.
Key Priorities for Rosen’s Next Term
Rosen outlined an ambitious agenda for her second term, pledging to tackle a broad range of issues:
Affordable Housing and Infrastructure: Rosen emphasized the need for more affordable housing and investment in infrastructure, including expanding broadband access.
Climate Change and Energy: She plans to push for climate solutions and continue her fight against price gouging by big oil companies.
Reproductive Rights and Healthcare: Rosen reiterated her commitment to protecting reproductive rights and strengthening healthcare programs like the Affordable Care Act, Medicare, and Social Security.
Gun Violence and Hate Crimes: She aims to curb gun violence and combat hate, particularly antisemitism.
Economic Development: Rosen highlighted the importance of job training, apprenticeships, and creating opportunities for working families.
“I’ll never back down from the fight against extreme Republicans in efforts to further roll back our rights,” she vowed.
A Bipartisan Approach
Despite her firm stance on several Democratic priorities, Rosen stressed her willingness to work across party lines.
“No matter how anyone cast their vote this election, I represent all Nevadans,” she said. “Winning elections isn’t just about beating the other side. It’s really about the progress that we can deliver.”
Looking Ahead
Rosen’s re-election secures another six years of her leadership in the Senate, where she will continue to advocate for policies aimed at improving the lives of Nevadans. Her victory reflects a closely contested race in a battleground state, emphasizing the importance of bipartisan collaboration in addressing the pressing challenges ahead.
