🏎 Las Vegas Grand Prix Week: Road Closures and Traffic Impacts
As the Formula One Las Vegas Grand Prix approaches, motorists can expect significant traffic disruptions along the 3.8-mile street circuit, which utilizes public roads such as Las Vegas Boulevard, Koval Lane, Harmon Avenue, and Sands Avenue. The race, which runs Thursday through Saturday, includes nighttime practice, qualifying, and race events, culminating with the Grand Prix at 10 p.m. on Saturday.
Track Designations: What They Mean
The F1 circuit will operate under three distinct designations, each with specific travel implications:
Warm Track: Public access is permitted with traffic restrictions and barriers in place for quick transition to closures.
Transition Period: Crews prepare the course for closures and restricted access.
Hot Track: The circuit is closed to public traffic and exclusively used for F1 practice, qualifying, or race events.
Road Impacts and Schedule
Here’s what motorists can expect throughout race week:
Monday & Tuesday
Warm Track: Full public access with restrictions in place for both days.
Wednesday

Sunday
Midnight-2 a.m.: Hot Track; race concludes.
2 a.m.-end of day: Warm Track as teardown begins.
Post-Race Teardown
Dismantling of the race infrastructure will continue through Dec. 24, beginning with barrier removal on the Strip. Two lanes of traffic will be reopened initially, with further work ongoing.
The most disruptive teardown operation involves dismantling the temporary Flamingo Road bridge over Koval Lane, which will close the intersection from Dec. 15 to Dec. 21. Access to nearby businesses will remain available.
Tropicana/I-15 Traffic Configuration
During race week, the ongoing Tropicana Avenue-Interstate 15 project will maintain:
Four lanes open on I-15 in each direction during race day.
Two lanes open in each direction on the Tropicana bridge over I-15.
However, closures will persist for:
The I-15 northbound off-ramp to Tropicana.
The Tropicana on-ramp to I-15 southbound.
Frank Sinatra Drive will remain open, providing a vital north-south route behind the Strip, while Dean Martin Drive will operate with one lane in each direction.
Looking Ahead
The Las Vegas Grand Prix will bring both excitement and logistical challenges. Motorists are advised to plan alternate routes, use public transit when possible, and anticipate delays near the circuit and Strip-adjacent areas.
🏈 UNLV Makes Historic Entry into College Football Playoff Rankings
The UNLV Rebels continue to rewrite program history under second-year head coach Barry Odom, earning their first-ever appearance in the College Football Playoff (CFP) rankings. The Rebels debuted at No. 24 in the latest CFP update and climbed to No. 23 in both the USA Today Coaches Poll and the Associated Press Top 25 Poll.
This season, the CFP expands to include 12 teams, with the top-ranked conference champions and highest-ranked at-large teams forming the bracket. While UNLV faces long odds of earning an at-large bid, their path to the playoffs could be realized if they win the Mountain West Conference Championship and secure the highest ranking among non-power conference champions.
Rebels’ Road to the Playoffs
UNLV’s record stands at 8-2 overall and 4-1 in Mountain West play, positioning them as strong contenders but still behind key rivals in the race for a championship spot.
Key Competitors Ahead of UNLV
No. 12 Boise State (9-1, 6-0): Currently the highest-ranked team outside the Power Five conferences, Boise State holds a crucial tiebreaker over UNLV following their 29-24 victory at Allegiant Stadium on Oct. 25.
No. 19 Army (9-0, 7-0 AAC) and No. 20 Tulane (9-2, 7-0 AAC): Both schools remain ahead of the Rebels, and the winner of their American Athletic Conference Championship game on Dec. 6 will solidify their claim to a CFP spot.
Mountain West Standings
The Rebels are also chasing Colorado State (7-3, 5-0), which leads the Mountain West standings. For UNLV to qualify for the conference title game, they will need Colorado State to falter in its final two games against Fresno State and Utah State.
A Season of Milestones
Regardless of how the season ends, UNLV’s 2023 campaign is already historic:
This is the first year UNLV has appeared in the national rankings.
The Rebels have secured back-to-back bowl berths for the first time in program history.
Michigan athletic director Warde Manuel, chair of the CFP selection committee, praised the Rebels' performance:
“Two close losses, including overtime at Syracuse and a five-point loss to Boise, are impressive. Their quarterback, Hajj-Malik Williams, leads the team in both passing and rushing. They’ve just been impressive overall.”
Upcoming Games
The Rebels have two games left in the regular season:
Friday, Nov. 22 at San Jose State (6-4, 3-3), 7 p.m.
Thursday, Nov. 30 vs. UNR (3-8, 0-5), 5 p.m.
Their rivals face the following matchups:
Boise State: vs. Wyoming (2-8) and Oregon State (4-6).
Colorado State: vs. Fresno State (5-5) and Utah State (3-7).
Potential CFP Bracket
Based on Tuesday’s CFP rankings, the following teams would make the 12-team playoff:
Top Four Seeds (byes): No. 1 Oregon, No. 2 Ohio State, No. 3 Texas, No. 4 Penn State.
Remaining Teams: No. 5 Indiana, No. 6 Notre Dame, No. 7 Alabama, No. 8 Miami (Fla.), No. 9 Ole Miss, No. 10 Georgia, No. 12 Boise State, and No. 14 BYU.
First Team Out: No. 11 Tennessee.
What’s Next?
As the Rebels prepare to close out their historic regular season, their focus remains on taking care of business in their final two games and hoping for favorable results in the conference standings. Even if they fall short of the playoffs, this season has cemented UNLV as a rising program with much to celebrate.

🎰 Bellagio Fountain Club Returns for Las Vegas Grand Prix with Enhanced Luxury
The Bellagio Fountain Club, one of the most exclusive venues to watch the Las Vegas Grand Prix, is back this year with elevated offerings. Situated along the Strip’s main straightaway, the club offers breathtaking views of the race in the front and the Bellagio Fountains behind. The three-day ticket for this premium experience costs $12,500, which includes taxes and fees—and it’s already sold out.
“This was our [MGM Resorts’] most interesting place to watch the race this year, and everybody really wanted to be here,” said Andrew Lanzino, MGM Resorts’ vice president of citywide events strategy.
Enhanced Guest Experience
Building on feedback from last year’s inaugural Grand Prix, MGM Resorts has introduced several new features:
Private Suites: Responding to requests from last year’s attendees, MGM has added private suites for groups seeking a more exclusive setting.
Winner’s Stage Access: The Las Vegas Grand Prix Winner’s Stage, located between the two Bellagio Fountain Club buildings, will host post-race celebrations.
Activation Row: This walkway includes interactive experiences like a Haas team race car display, branded activations from Mercedes and Marriott, and other entertainment options beyond food and drink.
Expanded Amenities: The club now includes 20 chefs, such as Masaharu Morimoto, Mario Carbone, and Alain Ducasse, offering a rotating menu of curated dishes. Drinks crafted by master mixologists and sommeliers complement the all-inclusive food offerings.
Pop-up performances by Las Vegas entertainers will provide additional entertainment throughout the weekend.
A Two-Level Experience
To accommodate varying audiences, MGM Resorts has also introduced the Boulevard Experience on the Cosmopolitan’s rooftop pool.
This watch party offers a more affordable alternative to the Bellagio Fountain Club:
Tickets: Prices range from $150 for Thursday to $350 for Sunday, with three-day tickets available for $500.
Amenities: Unlimited complimentary light bites and non-alcoholic beverages.
Viewing: Fans won’t have a direct view of the race but can watch live feeds of the action on large screens.
Construction and Capacity
The Bellagio Fountain Club structures, which can accommodate 3,600 guests, took about eight weeks to build. MGM expects to dismantle them within five weeks post-race, ensuring the area is cleared by Christmas.
“It’s a blend of race enthusiasts and those who want to experience F1 uniquely in Las Vegas,” Lanzino said. “There’s no better place to feel the essence of Vegas than on the rooftop, surrounded by the Strip’s iconic properties and fireworks.”
Tickets Going Fast
While the Bellagio Fountain Club has sold out, tickets for the Boulevard Experience remain available. “We still have a few tickets left,” Lanzino noted. “But they’re going fast.”
😋 McDonald’s McRib Makes a Comeback in Las Vegas
Fans of the iconic McRib sandwich are in for a treat this holiday season. McDonald’s has announced the return of the beloved sandwich to Las Vegas locations for a limited time starting Dec. 3, offering an early Christmas gift for loyal fans.
A Seasonal Favorite
The McRib, known for its seasoned boneless pork patty slathered in tangy barbecue sauce and topped with pickles and onions, has developed a cult following since its debut in 1981. Its periodic reappearances create a sense of urgency among fans eager to savor its unique flavor before it disappears again.
Exclusive McRib Sauce Available
For the first time, McDonald’s is also offering diners a chance to take home its signature McRib barbecue sauce. The company will sell half-gallon jugs of the sauce, providing fans with the opportunity to recreate the McRib experience or add the sauce to other dishes.
Starting at 10 a.m. ET on Nov. 25, these limited-edition jugs will be available for purchase at www.wholelottamcribsauce.com, while supplies last. Given the McRib’s devoted fanbase, the jugs are expected to sell out quickly.
A Holiday Treat for McRib Enthusiasts
