💨 Windy Conditions Could Challenge Las Vegas Grand Prix Drivers Saturday Night

While rain is expected to hold off until after the Las Vegas Grand Prix concludes Saturday night, windy conditions may present a challenge for drivers during the high-stakes race on the Strip.

The National Weather Service (NWS) forecasts calm winds for Friday's practice and qualifying sessions, but Saturday evening gusts could reach speeds of up to 30 mph, potentially affecting vehicle stability and handling on the 3.8-mile street circuit.

Weekend Weather Outlook

The NWS predicts:

  • Friday: A high near 67 degrees with calm winds during practice and qualifying.

  • Saturday: Temperatures warming to 73 degrees, with winds increasing into the evening as the Grand Prix kicks off at 10 p.m.

  • Sunday: Cooler conditions with a high of 67 degrees and a 10 percent chance of showers after 4 a.m., increasing to 20 percent by 10 a.m.

Thanksgiving Week Forecast

As the Las Vegas Valley transitions into Thanksgiving week, temperatures are expected to cool further:

  • Monday: High near 65 degrees with sunny skies.

  • Thanksgiving Day: The holiday is forecasted to be chilly, with a high of around 60 degrees in central Las Vegas.

Potential Power Outages for Mount Charleston

Residents in the Mount Charleston area may face a planned power outage starting Friday night into Saturday afternoon, according to NV Energy.

The utility announced a possible “Public Safety Outage Management” (PSOM) event for Angel Peak and Kyle Canyon due to strong winds in the forecast.

  • Outage Timing: 10 p.m. Friday through 2 p.m. Saturday.

  • Wind Forecast:

    • Friday night: Southwest winds at 9 to 13 mph with gusts reaching 26 mph in Kyle Canyon.

    • Saturday night: Gusts could peak at 37 mph, posing risks to power infrastructure and prompting the precautionary outages.

NV Energy advises affected residents to plan for the outage and prepare accordingly.

🏒Golden Knights Bounce Back with a Gritty 3-2 Win Over Ottawa Senators

The Vegas Golden Knights rebounded from a disappointing shutout loss in Toronto with a disciplined 3-2 victory over the Ottawa Senators on Thursday at Canadian Tire Centre. The win marked a milestone for head coach Bruce Cassidy, who earned his 400th career victory in his hometown.

Cassidy Joins the 400-Win Club

Cassidy became the eighth active NHL coach to reach the 400-win milestone. The 59-year-old, now in his third season with the Knights, secured his 108th victory with the team, which he led to a Stanley Cup championship in 2023. Cassidy is only 10 wins shy of tying Gerard Gallant for the franchise's all-time coaching record.

Samsonov’s Stellar Performance

Goaltender Ilya Samsonov, making his first start since Oct. 26, delivered a season-best performance with 38 saves. His efforts were critical as the Knights were heavily outshot 18-5 in the final period but managed to hold on for the win.

Scoring Recap

The Knights (12-6-2) got back on track offensively with contributions from:

  • Jack Eichel, who opened the scoring in the first period with his fourth goal in six games against Ottawa.

  • Brett Howden, netting his eighth goal of the season in the second period to extend the lead to 2-0.

  • Pavel Dorofeyev, who delivered a key breakaway goal in the third period off a setup by William Karlsson to make it 3-1.

Ottawa (8-10-1) narrowed the gap with goals from Adam Gaudette and another late tally, but Samsonov and the Knights’ defense stood firm.

Defensive Adjustments

Despite missing several key defensemen, including Alex Pietrangelo (day-to-day with an upper-body injury), the Knights successfully weathered Ottawa’s late surge. They blocked 23 shots, helping Samsonov fend off the Senators’ 40-shot barrage.

The Knights leaned on depth with Robert Hagg, recalled from the AHL, stepping in and logging 8:59 of ice time in his 344th NHL game.

Three Key Takeaways

1. Milestone Moment for Cassidy

Reaching 400 career wins in his hometown of Ottawa was special for Cassidy, but he emphasized the importance of continuing to improve as the Knights look to build momentum during their season-long five-game road trip.

2. Knights’ Domination of Ottawa Continues

Vegas improved to 12-1-1 all-time against Ottawa and remains undefeated in regulation at Canadian Tire Centre (6-0-1). Eichel’s dominance over Ottawa continued with his 14th career goal and 34th point in 23 games against the Senators.

3. Resilient Response

The Knights showed resilience after a tough 3-0 loss in Toronto. They controlled the game early, with Cassidy praising their improved start and neutral-zone play. However, the hectic finish highlighted areas that still need work.

Up Next

The Knights will continue their Canadian road trip Saturday with a matchup against the Montreal Canadiens as they aim to build on Thursday’s strong performance.

🍕 Solamente Pizza Debuts New Location, Expands Menu and Space

Solamente Pizza, a Las Vegas favorite known for its expertly crafted modern Neapolitan pizzas, has opened its new location at 8390 W. Sahara Ave., Suite 130, near South Durango Drive. The pizzeria’s move follows the closure of its previous Town Square space last summer, which was marred by a scandal involving fraudulent Uber Eats listings. These listings impersonated Solamente and other notable Las Vegas restaurants, with orders being processed and fulfilled by unaffiliated kitchens, tarnishing the reputation of many eateries.

The new standalone location offers Solamente a fresh chapter with a more spacious venue to cater to its growing fan base and provide an enhanced dining experience.

A Space Designed for Quality and Comfort

The new Solamente Pizza is a significant upgrade from its previous space, offering a larger footprint that allows for increased production capacity and a more comfortable environment for dine-in customers. The expanded space also supports the pizzeria’s commitment to consistently delivering its beloved pies, crafted with painstaking attention to detail.

Each pizza is built on a foundation of dough fermented over several days, a process that ensures a crust with the ideal balance of softness, crispness, and chew. The result is a pizza with a signature airy, bubbled, and blistered cornice that has become a hallmark of Solamente’s offerings.

A Menu of Classics and Modern Creativity

Solamente’s menu continues to celebrate the tradition of Neapolitan pizza while embracing modern flavors and techniques. The offerings are divided into red (tomato-based) and white (sauce-free or cream-based) styles, appealing to a variety of palates.

Popular choices include:

  • Classic Margherita: A time-honored favorite with fresh mozzarella, San Marzano tomatoes, fresh basil, and a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil.

  • Spicy Special: A bold combination of pepperoni, Calabrian chilis, mozzarella, Pecorino Romano, and a touch of hot honey, creating a perfect harmony of heat and sweetness.

  • A.P.B.: A decadent pie featuring prosciutto di Parma, fresh arugula, mozzarella, creamy burrata, and Pecorino Romano.

  • Mushroom Arugula: An earthy delight, blending the robust flavors of mushrooms with the refreshing bite of arugula atop a white base.

  • Cacio e Pepe Pizza: Inspired by the classic Roman pasta, this inventive creation showcases the simplicity of black pepper and cheese in pizza form.

A Commitment to Excellence

The move to the larger location allows Solamente to better serve its growing customer base while maintaining its dedication to quality. The pizzeria’s loyal following has been drawn to its use of high-quality ingredients and its meticulous approach to pizza-making, which blends tradition with a creative, modern twist.

Solamente Pizza’s new space represents more than just a physical expansion—it reflects the restaurant’s resilience and its ongoing commitment to delivering an exceptional dining experience.
