The highly anticipated store, located at the Sahara Pavilion South shopping center at 2620 S. Decatur Blvd., is currently hiring for all positions, bringing the launch of its massive 54,552-square-foot facility one step closer.

A Diverse Shopping Experience

H Mart, known for its wide selection of Asian, international, and everyday food items, promises to become a hub for culinary and cultural exploration in the Las Vegas Valley. Brian Kwon, president of H Mart, highlighted the store’s mission:

The store will offer fresh produce, meat, seafood, and a variety of pantry staples, catering to shoppers seeking both specialty Asian ingredients and conventional grocery items.

Food Hall to Feature Popular Brands

A standout feature of the new H Mart will be its expansive food hall, described as “mega” in size, with at least seven distinct dining options:

  • Moonbongri Soondae Express

  • Paik’s Noodle

  • Topokki

  • Oh K-Dog

These offerings promise a mix of traditional Korean dishes, trendy street food, and sweet treats, making the store a destination for food enthusiasts.

🏒 Golden Knights Defeat Ducks, 4-1, as Theodore and Karlsson Shine Against Former Team

The Vegas Golden Knights extended their dominance over the Anaheim Ducks this season with a 4-1 victory on Wednesday, improving to 3-0-0 against their division rival. Shea Theodore and William Karlsson, both former Ducks, led the charge, combining for three goals and showcasing their enduring impact against their old team.

Key Highlights

1. Theodore and Karlsson Lead the Way

  • William Karlsson: Opened the scoring at 16:26 of the first period, tallying his 16th career goal against Anaheim. The center, originally drafted by the Ducks in 2011, has consistently tormented his former team, racking up 27 points in 37 games.

  • Shea Theodore: Scored twice, including a second-period goal off a rebound and an empty-netter in the final minute. Theodore now has seven goals and 23 points in 29 games against Anaheim.

Both players were acquired by Vegas during the 2017 expansion draft and have been central to the team’s success since its inception.

2. Ilya Samsonov Bounces Back
Goaltender Ilya Samsonov delivered a strong performance, stopping 19 of 20 shots just days after a tough outing against Utah. His composure was key in holding Anaheim to a single goal.

“Tough last game for me in Vegas,” Samsonov admitted, but added, “We worked hard in practice the last couple of days.”

3. Alexander Holtz Ends Goal Drought
Right wing Alexander Holtz broke a personal slump with his first goal since October 22. Holtz capitalized on a precise pass from Tanner Pearson, netting an easy tap-in early in the third period to extend the Knights’ lead to 3-1.

“It’s been a tough year for Holtz, but this goal could help rebuild his confidence,” said coach Bruce Cassidy.

Defensive Dominance Continues

The Knights maintained their defensive intensity, allowing just 20 shots while blocking 17 attempts. This followed their standout effort against Edmonton on Tuesday, where they blocked 22 shots in a 1-0 victory. Samsonov mirrored Adin Hill’s performance from the previous night, standing tall despite conceding a long-range goal from Anaheim’s Jackson LaCombe.

Upcoming Challenges

The Knights, now 17-7-3 on the season, will face the Dallas Stars at T-Mobile Arena on Friday in a rematch of last season’s seven-game first-round playoff series.

“It’s going to be an important game,” Theodore said, anticipating the intense matchup.

Three Key Takeaways

  1. Defense Travels Well
The Knights have made noticeable strides in their defensive play, limiting both the Ducks and the Oilers to few quality chances in consecutive games. While there’s still room for improvement, their recent performances suggest they’re turning a corner.

  2. Holtz Breaks Through
Alexander Holtz’s second goal of the season provided a much-needed confidence boost for the 22-year-old winger, who has struggled to secure a consistent role in the lineup.

  3. Gibson’s Struggles Against Vegas Continue
Ducks goaltender John Gibson, a staple in Anaheim’s crease, fell to 6-18-5 all-time against the Golden Knights. Despite being on the verge of 200 career NHL wins, Gibson has consistently struggled when facing Vegas.

😋 Eataly’s Sixth Anniversary Brings Bar, Torino-Style Pizza, and Market Enhancements

Eataly, the beloved Italian food and drink marketplace at Park MGM, is marking six years in Las Vegas with its first major expansion since opening in December 2018. The renovations include two new concepts and enhancements to its existing offerings, promising guests an even richer culinary experience. The new spaces, set to debut on December 27, aim to blend traditional Italian flavors with the energy of Park MGM’s entertainment-centric location.

New Additions to Eataly

Eataly Bar
At the heart of the expansion is Eataly Bar, a welcoming horseshoe-shaped venue with a design that combines light wood finishes, lush greenery accents, and a seamless indoor-outdoor seating arrangement. Large-screen televisions cater to sports enthusiasts, aligning with Park MGM’s proximity to T-Mobile Arena and Allegiant Stadium.

Eataly Bar offers a distinctly Italian beverage menu:

  • Italian Spritzes: Around a dozen variations of the refreshing aperitif.

  • Craft Cocktails: Unique blends highlighting Italian spirits.

  • Italian Wines: A curated selection that complements the bar’s offerings.

Guests can also enjoy bruschette — small toasted bread slices topped with a variety of flavorful ingredients — as an ideal pairing. For added convenience, the bar offers Drinks to Go, allowing visitors to explore the marketplace with a cocktail or glass of wine in hand.

Pizza al Padellino
Adjacent to the bar, Pizza al Padellino brings a taste of Torino, Italy, to Eataly. This quick-service counter specializes in pan pizza, or “padellino,” a regional favorite from the Piedmont region. Pizzas are baked in small, round pans, resulting in a lightly crisp outer edge and a soft, airy crust.

Guests can choose from a range of fresh, high-quality toppings, such as:

  • Fresh mozzarella

  • Prosciutto

  • Seasonal vegetables

Pizzas can be ordered directly from the counter and delivered to Eataly Bar, offering a convenient and cohesive dining experience.

Enhanced Dining and Seating

The Cucina del Mercato, Eataly’s central market kitchen, now boasts nearly 120 additional seats, making it more accessible and accommodating for groups of all sizes. Customers have the option to:

  • Order from any counter and have food delivered to their table.

  • Scan a QR code at their table to place orders from multiple stations directly.

This enhancement follows earlier renovations in 2023, which introduced three new counters:

  1. Le Polpette: Specializing in Italian meatballs and burgers.

  2. La Pasta Fresca: Offering freshly made pasta prepared daily.

  3. La Carne e Il Pesce: Highlighting sustainably sourced meats and seafood.

A Culinary Destination for All

Eataly’s latest upgrades reflect its commitment to delivering a dynamic dining and shopping experience. The new concepts, from the interactive bar to the authentic pizza counter, aim to attract both locals and tourists alike. As it enters its seventh year, Eataly continues to evolve while staying true to its Italian roots, providing a vibrant gathering space for food lovers at the heart of the Las Vegas Strip.

🎰 Durango Casino Celebrates Milestone Year, Plans Expansion Amid Rapid Growth

One year after its $780 million debut, Durango Casino & Resort has solidified its place as a standout in Las Vegas’ locals gaming market. The property, operated by Station Casinos and designed to target the southwest valley’s affluent and growing population, has exceeded expectations and inspired plans for expansion.

A Strong Start

Durango made an immediate impact, quickly becoming a favorite for locals drawn to its upscale design, modern amenities, and vibrant atmosphere. General Manager Dave Horn attributed its early success to its appeal within the neighborhood.

“We’re in the heart of a growing area,” said Horn. “The pool alone was generating Thursday-level revenue on a Monday. That was shocking.”

Durango introduced new design elements and culinary options that resonated with guests, including The George, a hybrid restaurant and sportsbook, and the Eat Your Heart Out Food Hall, which features diverse dining options.

The resort’s financial performance also caught Wall Street’s attention. Analysts estimate Durango generates over $100 million annually in one key revenue metric, marking a 15% return on investment within its first year—far outpacing the usual 2–3 year ramp-up period for new properties.

Expansion Plans in Motion

Building on its success, Red Rock Resorts has outlined a multi-phase expansion for Durango.

  • Phase 1: A 25,000-square-foot casino expansion with 230 new slot machines, a high-limit gaming area, and a bar. A 2,000-space parking garage is also planned. Estimated cost: $116 million.

  • Future Phases: Leadership is exploring additional amenities, including entertainment options such as bowling alleys or theaters, or resort expansions like more hotel rooms, meeting spaces, and a spa.

“When complete, Durango will be a fully integrated resort, comparable in size to Red Rock,” said Red Rock Resorts President Scott Kreeger.

Targeting Local Luxury

Horn highlighted the focus on elevating the local gaming experience with “local luxury” features such as high-limit gaming options. He said the property's location in a prosperous and growing area gives it a unique advantage.

Neighborhood and Market Growth

Durango’s growth aligns with ongoing development in southwest Las Vegas. Projects like the UnCommons mixed-use development and new apartment complexes are bringing additional residential and commercial density to the area.

Looking Ahead: New Projects in the Pipeline

Red Rock Resorts is also advancing plans for other resort-casino developments, with potential sites in Henderson’s Inspirada community and Cactus Avenue near Las Vegas Boulevard. However, executives indicated they would stagger construction timelines to remain agile in responding to market and economic conditions.

Learning From the Past

The company’s disciplined approach reflects lessons learned from previous ventures, including its underperforming investment in the Palms. “Durango hits the bullseye by catering to local affluence and avoiding oversaturation,” said Macquarie gaming analyst Chad Beynon.

With its successful debut year and strategic expansion plans, Durango Casino & Resort appears poised to maintain its position as a leader in Las Vegas’ locals gaming market while setting the stage for further growth across the valley.

Ron DeSantis Eyed as Backup as Hegseth Battles Confirmation Challenges

Former Fox News host Pete Hegseth is battling to retain his nomination for Secretary of Defense in Donald Trump’s upcoming administration as he faces increasing scrutiny over past allegations of misconduct, including sexual assault accusations, excessive drinking, and financial mismanagement. Despite these challenges, Hegseth has vowed not to back down and continues to receive conditional support from some lawmakers and Trump himself.

Controversies Cloud Confirmation Path

Hegseth’s nomination has been rocked by revelations of a 2017 sexual assault allegation, which he denies, and a settlement payment he made to avoid litigation. Reports have also surfaced of incidents involving alleged intoxication at work events and inappropriate behavior toward female staffers.

In an opinion article in The Wall Street Journal, Hegseth defended his record and dismissed the allegations as politically motivated attacks. He acknowledged mistakes in his past but insisted that his actions as Secretary of Defense would be beyond reproach.

Trump’s Support and Backup Plans

Hegseth claimed Trump still supports him, stating, “I spoke to the president this morning. He supports me fully.” However, Trump’s transition team is reportedly considering alternatives, including Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and Congressman Michael Waltz, who is currently slated to serve as National Security Adviser.

Lawmakers Divided

  • Supporters: North Dakota Senator Kevin Cramer expressed conditional support, saying, “I see no reason at this point not to be supportive.”

  • Skeptics: Senator Lindsey Graham called the allegations “disturbing,” emphasizing the importance of creating a respectful environment for women in the military.

  • Neutral Stance: Senator Joni Ernst, a military veteran and sexual assault survivor, stated that her conversation with Hegseth was “frank and thorough” but stopped short of endorsing him.

Hegseth’s Response to Allegations

  • Sexual Assault Allegation: Hegseth denied the claim, describing the settlement payment as a necessary step to protect his family and career from unfounded accusations.

  • Drinking Allegations: He admitted to occasional overindulgence in the past but vowed not to drink at all if confirmed as defense secretary. He likened the commitment to the Pentagon’s General Order No. 1, which prohibits troops from drinking while deployed.

  • Strip Club Incident: Hegseth denied claims that he was intoxicated at a Louisiana strip club or danced on stage, dismissing the story as false.

Challenges Ahead

Hegseth faces a steep climb to Senate confirmation, with concerns mounting over his ability to lead a military workforce that includes more than 17% women. Critics worry his past behavior and public controversies could undermine trust and morale within the Department of Defense.

The Path Forward

Hegseth continues to meet with lawmakers and publicly defend his nomination. His mother, Penelope Hegseth, appeared on Fox & Friends to plead for lawmakers to give her son a chance, describing him as a capable leader who has learned from his mistakes.

Despite the turbulence, Hegseth remains defiant, stating that he is leaving the outcome to fate: “The future’s in God’s hands.”

📈 Cryptocurrency’s Big Week: Bitcoin Tops $100K Amid Powell and Trump Boost

Bitcoin reached new heights on Thursday, briefly surpassing $103,000, after comments from Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell drew comparisons between the cryptocurrency and gold. Powell’s remarks, made during the New York Times’ DealBook Summit, added an unexpected boost to Bitcoin’s meteoric rise.

Powell: Bitcoin Competes With Gold, Not the Dollar

Powell stated that Bitcoin poses no challenge to traditional currencies like the U.S. dollar but rather competes with gold as a speculative asset.

“People use bitcoin as a speculative asset,” Powell said. “It’s just like gold, only it’s virtual, it’s digital. People are not using it as a form of payment or as a store of value. It’s highly volatile. It’s not a competitor for the dollar, it’s really a competitor for gold.”

Market Reaction

  • Bitcoin surged 3% on Thursday morning, trading above $103,000 before settling slightly lower.

  • Gold remained flat since the U.S. election, though it has risen nearly 30% year-to-date.

Analysts see Powell’s comparison as a key moment for Bitcoin’s credibility in the financial world. “The Fed chair’s comments equating Bitcoin to gold lend legitimacy to Bitcoin as a global asset,” said Joel Kruger, market strategist at LMAX Group. He noted that gold’s market capitalization is still about 10 times larger than Bitcoin’s, suggesting significant room for growth.

Post-Election Crypto Surge

Bitcoin’s recent rally, which began after Donald Trump’s November 5 election victory, has seen the cryptocurrency rise nearly 50%. Trump’s pro-crypto stance and promises of deregulation have fueled market optimism.

On Wednesday, Trump formalized his intention to nominate Paul Atkins, a noted crypto advocate, as chair of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Atkins is expected to provide a smoother regulatory environment for cryptocurrencies, contrasting sharply with the crypto-critical tenure of outgoing SEC Chair Gary Gensler.

What’s Next for Bitcoin?

While it’s unclear how much Powell’s comments directly contributed to Bitcoin’s latest surge, the combination of institutional interest, favorable political signals, and Bitcoin’s growing recognition as a major asset is propelling its ascent.

With its price already over $100,000, Bitcoin continues to shatter expectations and could challenge gold further as a go-to store of value.
