💣 Las Vegas Tesla Explosion: A Tragic Case of Mental Health Struggles
Authorities investigating the New Year’s Day Tesla Cybertruck explosion at Trump International in Las Vegas believe the man behind the incident, 37-year-old Matthew Livelsberger, suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and personal grievances. Officials emphasized Friday that Livelsberger harbored no animosity toward President-elect Donald Trump, despite choosing the hotel as the location for the blast.
Incident Details and Speculated Motives
Clark County Sheriff Kevin McMahill stated that investigators do not know why Livelsberger selected Trump International for the explosion, noting that he may have also considered a site at the Grand Canyon. The detonation, which caused minor injuries to seven people, occurred simultaneously with Livelsberger’s suicide by gunshot.
FBI Las Vegas Special Agent in Charge Spencer Evans indicated that Livelsberger’s struggles with PTSD and personal issues may have been key factors. A decorated Green Beret who served in Afghanistan in 2009, Livelsberger had a history of mental health challenges following his military service.
Notes Provide Clues to Motivation
Authorities recovered writings near Livelsberger’s body offering insight into his mindset. The notes described his actions as a symbolic gesture aimed at drawing attention to societal issues.
Livelsberger referred to the event as a “wake-up call,” emphasizing that Americans respond to “spectacles and violence.” He also wrote about cleansing his mind of the trauma from losing fellow soldiers and the burden of his own actions during combat.
In one note, Livelsberger mentioned Trump, Tesla CEO Elon Musk, and Robert F. Kennedy Jr., framing his actions as part of a vision for a stronger America.
A separate letter, reportedly sent to Shawn Ryan, a former Navy SEAL and CIA contractor with a podcast addressing military mental health issues, remains under FBI review.
Connections to New Orleans Attack Ruled Out
Authorities also addressed potential links between Livelsberger and Shamsud-Din Jabbar, the driver who carried out a deadly attack in New Orleans hours earlier. While both men served in Afghanistan in 2009 and were stationed at Fort Bragg at different times, no evidence connects them beyond coincidental details.
Jabbar’s attack, which killed 14 revelers, was determined to be inspired by the Islamic State group. By contrast, Livelsberger’s actions were deemed an isolated tragedy unrelated to terrorism.
A Tragic End for a Decorated Veteran
Livelsberger, who lived in Colorado Springs, was described as a highly decorated soldier, receiving multiple Bronze Stars and Army Commendation Medals. However, his battle with PTSD and personal struggles ultimately culminated in the New Year’s Day explosion.
Authorities highlighted the importance of understanding and addressing the mental health challenges faced by veterans. Evans referred to the incident as a public and sensational tragedy involving a combat veteran who had endured immense personal struggles.
🏈 Verizon FanFest Brings Super Bowl Magic to Las Vegas and 29 NFL Cities
The Caesars Superdome in New Orleans may host the Super Bowl next month, but Verizon is ensuring the championship excitement reverberates across the country. The telecom giant announced Friday that it will transform stadiums in 30 NFL markets, including Las Vegas, into a massive coast-to-coast celebration called FanFest on February 9.
FanFest: A Nationwide Super Bowl Party
Verizon’s FanFest promises a unique way for fans to immerse themselves in the Super Bowl experience. Each event will feature exclusive on-field access, live music, culinary showcases from local chefs, and meet-and-greet opportunities with current and former NFL stars, including Marshall Faulk, Jason Witten, Tiki Barber, Derrick Brooks, and Thurman Thomas.
In Las Vegas, the event will take place at Allegiant Stadium, home of the Raiders. Fans will enjoy activities like snapping selfies at the 50-yard line, spiking footballs in the end zone, touring locker rooms, playing tailgate games, and participating in football-themed challenges.

Eli Manning, two-time Super Bowl MVP and FanFest ambassador, described the event as the “largest simultaneous Super Bowl party ever.” Manning emphasized that the event’s scope goes beyond just watching the game. Attendees will also enjoy music, food, and family-friendly entertainment designed to make the Super Bowl a memorable, all-day experience.
Each city’s event will include localized entertainment, such as the Los Angeles Rams’ Mariachi band and the Houston Texans’ Gameday presentation team. Select cities will also feature renowned DJs like DJ Infared and DJ Jay Ejercito.

Verizon customers can claim free tickets to FanFest events starting Friday at VerizonFanFest.com, with an option to bring guests. Tickets will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Collectively, the nationwide events are expected to draw approximately 150,000 attendees.
