⛽ Las Vegas Gas Prices

⛽ UPDATE: Kinder Morgan Pipelines Back in Service, Fuel Flow Restored to Las Vegas

Kinder Morgan confirmed Friday that both the SFPP West and CALNEV pipelines, critical to Southern Nevada’s fuel supply, have returned to service after power was restored to a station in Southern California. This marks the end of a disruption caused by power outages related to wildfires in the Los Angeles area.
Clark County officials announced that fuel is once again moving normally into the Las Vegas Valley and assured residents there is no ongoing threat to the fuel supply. The Clark County Office of Emergency Management continues to monitor the situation closely, given the potential risks posed by California’s fires and high winds.
Fuel Flow Resumed Amid Earlier Concerns
The pipeline shutdown earlier this week led to concerns about fuel availability, prompting long lines at gas stations across the Las Vegas Valley. Kinder Morgan’s SFPP West and 566-mile CALNEV pipelines transport gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel from Southern California refineries to Barstow and Las Vegas.
Clark County had announced Thursday night that fuel would begin flowing within 12 to 24 hours, and the restoration met that timeline.
Officials Call for Calm
Local officials, including Clark County Commissioner Michael Naft, urged residents not to engage in panic buying at gas stations. Naft emphasized that emergency plans were in place and that the community was well-prepared for such disruptions.
Naft also reassured residents that fuel supplies for emergency vehicles were secure and that flight operations at Harry Reid International Airport, which also relies on the pipeline for jet fuel, were unaffected.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department encouraged the public to stay informed through reliable sources to avoid unnecessary panic or spreading misinformation.
Expert Opinions and Preparedness
Energy experts, including Patrick De Haan of GasBuddy, had maintained that the situation was manageable and unlikely to lead to significant disruptions. De Haan noted that alternative measures, such as trucking fuel into the valley, could have been employed had the shutdown persisted.
Similarly, AAA of Southern Nevada monitored the situation and indicated that the shutdown had minimal impact on the region’s fuel supply.
Gas Prices Hold Steady
As of Thursday, gas prices in Las Vegas were trending slightly downward. The average price for regular gasoline was $3.61 per gallon, compared to $3.64 a month ago, according to AAA. Some stations reported prices as low as $2.63 per gallon, with gas stations in Centennial Hills, Summerlin, and Henderson experiencing brisk business following news of the pipeline closure.
Lessons from Past Disruptions
This week’s pipeline issue echoes a similar event in February 2023, when the same pipelines were shut down for a week due to a 205-gallon fuel leak. That incident also led to panic buying, long lines, and a state of emergency declaration by Governor Joe Lombardo.
Looking Ahead
With fuel flow restored, officials and energy analysts continue to monitor the potential impact of California’s wildfire season on critical infrastructure. Clark County urged residents to stay updated through the county’s website, social media, and trusted news outlets.

🏒 Ivan Barbashev’s Potential Return Offers Boost to Golden Knights

The Golden Knights have struggled to maintain optimal line combinations during Ivan Barbashev’s absence, a challenge that coach Bruce Cassidy has been navigating for the past 10 games. Losing their top goal scorer and a key component of one of the NHL’s most effective lines has had a noticeable impact on the team’s structure.
Fortunately, Barbashev’s return could be imminent. The forward, who has 15 goals this season, practiced with his linemates Jack Eichel and Mark Stone on Friday and participated in full-contact drills. While officially listed as a game-time decision, Barbashev is expected to rejoin the lineup for Saturday’s game against the New York Rangers.
Cassidy expressed optimism about Barbashev’s availability, noting that the forward appeared in good form during practice. Barbashev’s readiness will ultimately depend on how he feels leading up to the game.
Injury Details and Recovery Timeline
Barbashev suffered an upper-body injury during a game against the Minnesota Wild on December 15 after a collision with forward Marcus Foligno in the first period. Although he returned for one shift, he left the game shortly afterward and was initially considered day-to-day. However, pain during solo skating sessions delayed his return.
Center Nic Roy, also dealing with an upper-body injury sustained in the same game, practiced fully on Friday but is not yet cleared to play. Like Barbashev, Roy has missed the last 10 games.
Golden Knights’ Performance Without Barbashev
Despite Barbashev’s absence, the Golden Knights managed an 8-2-0 record and maintained strong offensive output, averaging 3.5 goals per game over that stretch, ranking seventh in the NHL.
Eichel and Stone continued to produce at a high level, each tallying 11 points during Barbashev’s absence. The team saw contributions from 16 different goal scorers, with Stone leading the way with five goals.
However, finding a consistent replacement for Barbashev on the top line proved challenging. Skilled wingers Pavel Dorofeyev and Victor Olofsson were tested but lacked the physicality needed to complement Eichel and Stone. Tanner Pearson was effective in spurts, contributing three points in the last four games, but his defensive struggles, including a costly turnover in Thursday’s 4-0 loss to the New York Islanders, highlighted the need for Barbashev’s return.
Barbashev’s Impact on the Top Line
Barbashev’s physical presence on the forecheck and ability to create opportunities by crashing the net are qualities the Knights have missed. His chemistry with Eichel and Stone made the trio one of the league’s best lines earlier in the season.
The Knights have shown resilience in dealing with injuries this year. They went 8-4-2 when Stone missed 14 games with a pulled muscle and have remained competitive without Barbashev and Roy. Still, the return of even one of these key players will bolster the team’s depth and ability to control the forecheck.
Keegan Kolesar, right wing for the Knights, acknowledged the significance of Barbashev’s potential return, noting the impact of his linemates in helping him regain his form quickly.
Looking Ahead
As the Golden Knights prepare to face the New York Rangers, the potential return of Barbashev offers a much-needed boost to a team looking to rebound from Thursday’s loss. His reintegration into the lineup could restore balance to the top line and strengthen the team’s offensive and defensive structure.

❎ Biden’s Approval Drops as He Prepares to Leave Office

As President Joe Biden’s term comes to a close, Americans view his presidency less favorably than they did Donald Trump’s first term or Barack Obama’s second term, according to a recent poll by The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research.
The survey found that around 25% of Americans rated Biden as a "good" or "great" president, with fewer than 10% calling him "great." By comparison, on the eve of Trump’s departure in 2021, about 33% of Americans rated his presidency as “good” or “great,” including 20% who said “great.” Similarly, Obama left office with roughly 50% of Americans describing his presidency positively.
A Tarnished Legacy
Biden’s standing reflects discontent even within his own Democratic Party, where many consider his presidency average or mediocre. About 40% of Democrats described his tenure as "good," while just 10% rated it as "great."
Black and Hispanic Americans, key Democratic constituencies, expressed notable disappointment. Only 30% of Black Americans said Biden kept his promises, compared to 60% who said the same of Obama. Similarly, just 33% of Black respondents felt they were better off at the end of Biden’s presidency, a sharp contrast to the 70% who said this about Obama.
Hispanic Americans also shifted toward the Republican Party in 2024, further signaling dissatisfaction with Biden’s leadership.
Key Challenges
Biden’s presidency faced several hurdles, including criticism over immigration policies, inflation, and perceptions of unmet campaign promises. Roughly 50% of Americans said he had a negative impact on the cost of living, immigration, and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Younger voters were particularly critical. About 60% of Americans under age 30 described Biden’s presidency as “poor” or “terrible,” and fewer than 10% believed he positively impacted the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Legislative Achievements Overshadowed
Despite significant legislative victories, such as investments in infrastructure, microchip production, and green energy, only 20% of Americans felt Biden fulfilled his campaign promises. About 40% said he tried but failed, while another 40% said he did not keep his promises at all.
Biden’s administration also oversaw job creation and prescription drug reforms, but these accomplishments were overshadowed by widespread dissatisfaction with the economy and inflation.
Economic Perceptions and the Public’s Outlook
The survey revealed that 40% of Americans felt they were worse off than when Biden took office, with only 25% saying they were better off. This level of dissatisfaction surpasses that seen at the end of both Trump’s and Obama’s presidencies.
Biden’s handling of Russia’s war in Ukraine and the conflict in Israel also drew criticism, with many Americans viewing his actions as insufficient or ineffective.
Looking Forward
As Biden leaves office, his presidency is being compared to past leaders who faced low approval ratings, such as Richard Nixon and Jimmy Carter. While historical trends suggest perceptions of his presidency could improve over time, Biden’s departure is marked by disappointment from key voting blocs and a divided nation.

🎰 Iconic Mirage Dismantled as Hard Rock Transformation Progresses

The dismantling of the iconic Mirage on the Las Vegas Strip continues months after the property closed its doors in July. The closure marked the end of an era for the historic “Oasis in the Desert,” which was Las Vegas’ first true mega resort. The site is being reimagined to make way for the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas and its striking Guitar Hotel, set to open in 2027.
The Atrium and Other Mirage Landmarks
One of the most frequently asked questions about the Mirage’s transformation has centered on the fate of its iconic atrium and villas. Jim Allen, chairman of Hard Rock International and CEO of Seminole Gaming, acknowledged in July that the atrium has been a particular point of interest but offered no details about its future.
Crews were recently spotted dismantling pieces of the famed atrium, leaving its ultimate fate unclear.
The New Hard Rock Vision
The 80-acre site is undergoing a comprehensive renovation as part of its transformation into a Hard Rock-branded property. Plans include a complete overhaul of the existing facilities and the construction of a dramatic 700-foot-tall guitar-shaped hotel tower, reminiscent of Hard Rock’s South Florida property.
The guitar tower will be located on the grounds where the Mirage’s iconic volcano once stood, further altering the Las Vegas skyline.
A New Era on the Strip
The Mirage, long celebrated for its innovations and luxurious appeal, leaves behind a legacy as Las Vegas’ first mega resort. Its transformation into the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas represents another evolution for the Strip, blending the Mirage’s history with Hard Rock’s modern branding and bold design.
