🏡 Bobby Berk-Designed Edgewood Community Brings Luxury Homes to Summerlin
A new Tri Pointe Homes neighborhood is coming to Summerlin, featuring designs by celebrity interior designer Bobby Berk, known for his work on the television show "Queer Eye." The contemporary community, named Edgewood, will showcase modern architecture, functional living spaces, and sweeping views of both the Las Vegas Strip and the surrounding mountains.
A Unique Addition to Summerlin
Located near the 215 Beltway, Edgewood will include 53 homes, with 22 lots already sold. The first phase of development is expected to be completed by the end of 2025. Home prices start in the low $800,000s, with floor plans ranging from 1,995 to 2,644 square feet and offering three to four bedrooms.
One of Edgewood’s defining features is its emphasis on courtyard living, where homes are designed around a central outdoor courtyard. This layout enhances privacy and indoor-outdoor connectivity, with each home being rear-loaded to maximize space. The design is unlike anything currently available in Summerlin, offering a fresh take on luxury living.
Bobby Berk’s Vision for Edgewood
Bobby Berk has been collaborating with Tri Pointe Homes for a decade, designing multiple communities in Las Vegas. Edgewood is his latest project, built with a focus on family living and practical design.
Rather than prioritizing aesthetics alone, Berk ensures that each space is both stylish and suited for everyday life. The homes feature rich textures such as stone backsplashes, boucle fabrics, and grass cloth wall coverings. A neutral color palette is complemented by darker tones to create contrast and depth within the space.
Personalized Design Through the BB Edit Program
Edgewood homes will be part of Berk’s BB Edit Program, a curated design experience that simplifies the home customization process. Buyers can choose from 10 pre-designed collections, covering elements such as countertops, flooring, cabinetry, lighting, and even pools. The program is designed to make the home-buying experience more seamless, allowing buyers to personalize their homes without the stress of overwhelming choices.
Additionally, buyers have the option to purchase furnishings that align with their selected design collection, making the move-in process even easier.

🏉 NRL and Super League Take Over Las Vegas with Historic Rugby League Event
Rugby League in Las Vegas 2025 is set to be bigger than ever, featuring more games, teams, and international representation. With an expanded lineup, fans will witness an unprecedented sporting spectacle at Allegiant Stadium on Saturday, March 1, 2025. The event will bring together elite players from the NRL, Super League, and women’s international teams, marking a significant milestone in rugby league history.
For the first time, eight teams from both Super League and the NRL will compete, alongside an international women’s Test match, showcasing the sport’s global reach. The four-game schedule will be broadcast live worldwide, introducing American audiences to rugby league at the highest level.
A Week of Rugby League Action in Las Vegas
Beyond the matches at Allegiant Stadium, the event will feature a week of festivities, including fan engagement opportunities, competitions, and talent scouting. The NRL Talent Combine will search for four American athletes with the potential to transition into professional rugby league.

🎰 Resorts World Parent Company Undergoes Leadership Shift Amid Compliance Challenges
Genting Berhad, the Malaysia-based conglomerate that operates Resorts World Las Vegas, is undergoing a significant leadership transition as its longtime CEO and Chairman, KT Lim, steps down from both roles effective March 1. Although stepping away from day-to-day operations, Lim will remain actively involved as the executive chairman of the board of directors.
Succeeding Lim as CEO is KH Tan, a veteran executive who has been with Genting Berhad for 18 years. Tan has served as the company’s president and chief operating officer (COO) and took on the additional title of executive director in 2020. With his new appointment, Tan will continue as president and executive director but will no longer hold the position of COO.
This leadership transition is part of a multi-year succession plan, ensuring continuity at one of the world’s largest gaming and hospitality companies.
Genting’s Leadership Evolution and Family Legacy
KT Lim is the son of Genting Group’s founder, GT Lim, and has played a critical role in expanding the company’s global footprint since becoming CEO in 2003. Under his leadership, Genting Berhad has grown into a multinational powerhouse, operating integrated resorts and casinos across Asia, the U.K., the Bahamas, and the United States.
His son, KH Lim, has also been taking on greater responsibilities within the company. In 2019, he was appointed deputy CEO of Genting Berhad and will soon assume the role of CEO of Genting Plantations, a position previously held by KH Tan before his promotion.
According to filings with the Malaysia stock exchange, Tan does not have any direct familial ties to the company’s founding family or major shareholders, making his appointment a strategic leadership decision rather than a continuation of the family dynasty.
Genting’s Global Casino Empire and Resorts World Las Vegas
Genting Berhad holds the only casino license in Malaysia, first granted in 1969. Over the decades, it has expanded its gaming and hospitality operations internationally, with major properties in Singapore, the United Kingdom, the Bahamas, and several U.S. cities including Las Vegas, New York, and Miami.
One of the company’s most notable projects is Resorts World Las Vegas, a $4.3 billion mega-resort that opened on the north end of the Las Vegas Strip in June 2021. The resort sits on 88 acres, though its development so far has only utilized about half of the available land. During its grand opening, KT Lim indicated that future expansion was part of the long-term plan, though no significant progress has been made on that front over the past four years.
However, Resorts World’s newly appointed leadership team has hinted at potential expansion as part of the company’s growth strategy, suggesting the undeveloped portion of the site could play a key role in future plans.
Regulatory Challenges and Compliance Issues
Genting Berhad’s leadership change comes at a time when Resorts World Las Vegas is facing regulatory scrutiny in Nevada. In August 2024, the Nevada Gaming Control Board filed a 12-count complaint against both Resorts World and its parent company, Genting Berhad, alleging anti-money laundering compliance failures.
As the Nevada Gaming Commission reviews the case, Resorts World has taken steps to strengthen compliance measures, including the appointment of a new CEO and a restructured board of directors. These actions are part of a broader effort to address regulatory concerns and reinforce the company’s standing in the highly competitive Las Vegas gaming market.
Looking Ahead
With KH Tan stepping into the CEO role, Genting Berhad enters a new chapter under experienced leadership. The company’s global reach, strong brand presence, and valuable casino assets position it well for continued success.
In Las Vegas, Resorts World’s future remains a key area of interest, as the new leadership team evaluates expansion opportunities and navigates the ongoing regulatory proceedings.
As Genting Berhad moves forward with its leadership transition, the company is expected to maintain its focus on growth, innovation, and regulatory compliance in both its domestic and international markets.
European leaders reaffirmed their support for Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy following a tense meeting between him and U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House. The exchange, which cast doubt on ongoing efforts to end the Russia-Ukraine war, drew strong reactions from international leaders, with many backing Ukraine and others aligning with Trump’s stance.
Russia openly supported Trump after he criticized Zelenskyy and accused him of disrespecting the United States. Meanwhile, Zelenskyy expressed gratitude to numerous allies on social media for their continued support.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who recently met with Trump, emphasized his country’s unwavering commitment to Ukraine. After discussions with both Trump and Zelenskyy, Starmer stated that he was actively working toward a lasting peace that respects Ukraine’s sovereignty and security.
European Union leaders Antonio Costa and Ursula von der Leyen issued a joint statement reassuring Zelenskyy that he was not alone in the fight. They reiterated their commitment to working alongside Ukraine to establish a just and lasting peace. EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas called on European nations to step up leadership efforts, suggesting that the free world needed new direction.
French President Emmanuel Macron condemned Russia’s aggression and reaffirmed France’s support for Ukraine, saying that past decisions to aid Ukraine and sanction Russia were justified and should continue. Similarly, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock described the dispute as a sign that a troubling new political era had begun. Friedrich Merz, expected to become Germany’s next chancellor, stressed the importance of recognizing the clear distinction between the aggressor and the victim in the ongoing war. Outgoing Chancellor Olaf Scholz also reaffirmed Germany’s support for Ukraine.
In contrast to most European leaders, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, a close ally of both Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, praised Trump’s approach to diplomacy, suggesting that strong leadership was the key to securing peace.
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni called for an urgent international summit involving the United States, Europe, and their allies to address the situation in Ukraine. She emphasized the need for open discussions about how to handle major geopolitical challenges, particularly regarding the ongoing war.
Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof declared that his country’s support for Ukraine remained steadfast, emphasizing the need for lasting peace and an end to Russia’s war of aggression. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, a longtime supporter of Kyiv, also reassured Ukraine that it was not alone.
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez underscored Spain’s solidarity with Ukraine by pledging one billion euros in additional aid. Canada, another key ally, reaffirmed that Ukraine was fighting not only for its own freedom but for democratic values shared by others around the world.
Denmark and Sweden echoed similar sentiments, with Denmark expressing pride in supporting Ukraine and Sweden referring to Ukrainians as close friends. Switzerland’s President Karin Keller-Sutter condemned Russia’s actions and stated her country’s strong commitment to achieving a just and lasting peace.
Beyond Europe, leaders from around the world also voiced their support. Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese reiterated his country’s stance alongside Ukraine, while New Zealand’s Prime Minister Christopher Luxon praised Ukraine’s resilience as a proud and sovereign democracy. Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba described the Trump-Zelenskyy confrontation as highly emotional and unexpected, emphasizing that diplomacy should be conducted with patience and compassion to achieve peace.
Meanwhile, the Kremlin seized on the White House tensions, with Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova calling Zelenskyy’s visit a political and diplomatic failure. She accused the Ukrainian president of being obsessed with continuing the war rather than seeking a resolution.
Ukrainian officials, however, rejected that claim. Prime Minister Denys Shmygal defended Zelenskyy’s stance, insisting that peace without security guarantees would only invite further Russian expansion across Europe. Army chief Oleksandr Syrsky, who rarely comments on political matters, affirmed the Ukrainian military’s full support for Zelenskyy and stressed the need for national unity.
In the United States, Democratic leaders strongly criticized Trump’s handling of the meeting. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer accused both Trump and Vice President JD Vance of aligning themselves with Putin’s interests rather than standing with Ukraine.
As international reactions poured in, the diplomatic fallout from the meeting underscored deep divisions over how to handle the ongoing war. While many countries reaffirmed their support for Ukraine, Trump’s position introduced new uncertainty into the global approach to the conflict. The outcome of these diplomatic tensions could have lasting consequences for Ukraine’s fight against Russian aggression and for the broader geopolitical landscape.
🤖 MGM Reaches $45M Settlement While FTC Drops Cybersecurity Probe
FTC Withdraws Investigation Into MGM Cyberattack Following Legal Dispute
The Federal Trade Commission has decided to withdraw its investigation into MGM Resorts International’s handling of a 2023 cyberattack that caused an estimated $100 million in damages and disrupted resort operations for nine days. This move comes after months of legal disputes between the federal agency and MGM.
FTC Chairman Andrew Ferguson formally communicated the decision in a letter to MGM’s legal team. The withdrawal follows a lawsuit MGM filed in April challenging the FTC’s extensive request for documents and information related to the attack.
MGM’s Legal Battle Against the FTC
In January 2024, the FTC issued a civil investigative demand seeking details on 100 different categories spanning multiple years. MGM objected, arguing that much of the requested information was irrelevant. The company initially sought an extension to comply, but when the request was denied, the dispute escalated into legal action.
MGM filed a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, naming then-FTC Chair Lina Khan as a defendant. The company claimed that the investigation violated its Fifth Amendment rights and alleged a conflict of interest, as Khan had been staying at MGM Grand Las Vegas during the attack. MGM argued that her personal experience at the resort may have influenced the investigation and accused the FTC of failing to follow its own conflict-of-interest policies.
In response, the FTC filed its own lawsuit in Nevada in June 2024, asking the court to compel MGM to cooperate with the investigation. The agency argued that MGM qualified as a financial institution under federal law due to its use of casino markers, which allow high-rollers to gamble with no-interest credit. The FTC maintained that its investigation aimed to protect consumers affected by both the 2023 cyberattack and an earlier breach in 2019.
Impact of the Cyberattack on MGM Operations
The cyberattack, carried out by the Scattered Spider crime group, severely disrupted MGM’s operations. Slot machines were out of service, hotel guests were unable to access their rooms using smartphones, and credit card processing systems were disabled, forcing manual transactions. The company’s phone systems and ATMs were also rendered inoperative.
In July 2024, British law enforcement working with the FBI arrested a teenage suspect in England in connection with the attack. Authorities believe he was part of Scattered Spider, a multinational cybercrime organization responsible for ransomware attacks on corporations worldwide.
MGM has maintained that it fully cooperated with federal investigators, who advised the company not to pay ransom to the attackers. However, the cyberattack triggered 15 consumer class-action lawsuits, further complicating the company’s legal and financial challenges.
Settlement Reached in Class-Action Lawsuits
In January 2025, MGM reached a $45 million settlement in two of the class-action lawsuits. Under the terms of the settlement:
Individuals whose Social Security numbers or military ID numbers were exposed may receive $75.
Those whose passport or driver’s license numbers were compromised may receive $50.
All affected individuals will have access to credit monitoring and identity theft protection services.
The court is expected to formally approve the settlements in June 2025.
Future Implications
With the FTC dropping its investigation, MGM may avoid further regulatory scrutiny over the cyberattack. However, the company still faces financial and reputational challenges, including settlement payments and efforts to improve cybersecurity measures.
The FTC’s decision raises questions about federal oversight of cybersecurity practices in the gaming and hospitality industries. It remains unclear whether the agency will pursue alternative measures to address concerns about consumer data protection following the MGM breach.
As MGM works to rebuild consumer trust, the company continues to strengthen its cybersecurity defenses and navigate the ongoing fallout from one of the costliest cyberattacks in the casino industry’s history.
